Hi, ladies!
White sneakers are such a versatile footwear and you can wear them in so many ways. White sneakers also get dirty really fast. Let’s find out some dos and don’ts to keep them clean and clear of any dirt, spots or grime.
1. Do not put your canvas sneakers in the washer
Even if you will be choosing the gentle washing cycle for your sneakers! The wear and tear of the washing machine will discolour the pristine white colour of the shoes and will coat them in dreaded dirty looking yellow hues.
2. Shoelace cleaning
You can dip the shoe laces in a solution of warm water and gentle soap for some time and then hand wash them.
3. Use soft cloth on them
You can use a soft cloth to clean the shoes off the obvious dirt after each usage. This will effectively remove the little dirt pieces that the shoes may have acquired throughout the day.
4. Use baby shampoo to clean your shoes
If your shoes need thorough cleaning then make a solution of lukewarm water and some baby shampoo. Use this mixture to dip your shoes in for some time and then use an old toothbrush to scrub away all the dirt and spots from your shoes.
5. Don’t put them in harsh sunlight
After you are done cleaning and washing your shoes, it is time to dry them. Use old newspapers in your shoes to help dry them faster. Do not keep your shoes to dry under sunlight as harmful UV rays will discolour them for good.
6. Hide scuffs with white nail polish
If you want a quick and stress-free alternative for small scrapes on your shoes, then consider using a white nail polish for the little touch ups for those scratches and smudges.
7. Use vinegar for stains
If your white sneakers have caught any ugly stains then you can use a washcloth dipped in vinegar to spot clean the shoes. Rub gently to remove all the little stains from the shoes.
8. Remove oil stains right away
If you find any oil or greasy stain on your shoes then it is advisable to address them right away. Use a gentle shampoo and warm water to spot clean the stains with the help of a toothbrush. If the stain is fresh then it would come off in one go!
9. Use white toothpaste
You can also go for effective white toothbrush method to maintain the white colour of your shoes and to keep them clean. Apply the toothpaste to your dirty shoe using a toothbrush. Let it sit on your shoe for about 10 minutes and then take a damp towel and wipe the toothpaste off of your shoe. You can repeat the process if needed.
10. Use commercial solutions
You can go for protective sprays, various washing solutions and white polishes to keep your shoes looking white and clean.
