Haven’t you ever heard that prolonged sun exposure can be a major cause of skin cancer too? So today, I have come up with amazing ways to protect your skin from harsh UV rays.

Apply early

Try to apply the sunscreen 20-30 minutes prior you leave your home. This way the sunscreen will form a layer on your skin and then your skin will remain protected from the UV rays. Also, make sure you apply sunscreen every 2-3 hours.

Sensitive areas

Sunscreen should not only be applied on the face, hands and legs. Sunscreen should be applied on the sensitive areas too, like the top of the ears, hairline, V area of the chest, nose and hands. The Skin Cancer Foundation also suggested that 80% of cancer issues occur from areas other than face and hands.

Protect yourself

UV rays are most harmful between 10 am to 4 pm. So, try to keep yourself as covered as possible. Never step outdoors without covering yourself with a scarf. Also, try to wear a sunscreen with minimum SPF 40. Also, opt for a waterproof sunscreen if you’re going for swimming.

Areas like nose and feet

Body parts with horizontal surfaces like nose and feet require special sun protection. Did you know that lifeguards use a layer of zinc oxide in such areas rather than sunscreen? So, what you can do is that wear a sunscreen with an SPF of minimum 15 and then apply a layer of zinc oxide on your nose and feet for maximum protection .

Add seasonal fruits

Seasonal fruits fulfil the water requirement of your body well. Thus, they keep your skin moisturised. Fruits not only prevent dehydration but also keep your skin naturally protected.

Tinted car windows

Did you know that side and rear car windows are not able to restrict the entry of UV rays? So, you can get exposed to sun rays even when you are inside your car. The solution? Go for tinted care windows.

Apply mineral powders

Try to use mineral powders infused makeup products in summers. Since it is not possible to keep yourself covered in mineral makeup, opt for powders with SPF.

Indoor protection

Sunlight, when reflected, is equally harmful. If you think you can protect yourself in the concrete surfaces, then you are wrong. There is only one solution – reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours.

Avoid sunbathes

Sunbathing is not healthy. You can try it once in awhile. But don’t make it your hobby or habit. Even if you can’t live without sunbathing then go for it only for short time period, with high sun protection.

Don’t get affected by the weather

Many people think that sunscreens are not required in winters, but that’s not the truth. You have to apply a sunscreen throughout the year. This will ensure that your skin is protected from the harmful UV rays all round the year.
