Faces Eye Pencil – Black Molasses

All of us are very familiar about Faces long wear pencil. This is another range from Faces with minor changes from the long wear ones. Shades like Charcoal, Electric Blue, White and Brown has already been reviewed here. It was said that these pencils are available only at the counters but I was able to find a couple of shades online.

My take on Faces eye pencil Black Molasses:

These pencils different only slightly from the Long wear pencils. Unlike the long wear pencils, which have the lid and bottom tip in the shade color, these pencils have the shade color only at the bottom end. As mine is a black pencil, the entire pencil is black. It is a wooden pencil and needs sharpening unlike long wear lead pencils. It is quite travel-friendly.

I quite like the color. The color stands somewhere between dark grey to black. It is not pitch black but comes as a good black on my lids. It has amazing pigmentation. I get a very good black on my lids in just one swipe. 2 swipes gives a very dark black. It gives a matte finish. The texture is quite good. Creamy and glides like a dream. It doesn’t match the texture of long wear pencils. If long wear is a perfect score, this one just misses it by a few points. This still scores much better than most pencils available in the market
It can be applied on the upper and lower lash line. It stays for 8 to 9 hours on my lash lines. I require a makeup remover to remove them. It stays around the same time on my waterline but fades a bit for 4 hours. I could see the traces till I remove them. Personally, I prefer eye pencils to fade on my waterline. Lesser pain in removing them. The product wastage due to sharpening is quite high. I need to sharp after every 4 to 5 usage.

Pros of Faces eye pencil Black molasses:

• Decent Pigmentation.
• Texture (It is not amazing as long wear pencils still nothing to complain).
• Staying power.
• Waterline safe.
• Can be smudged and be used as a base.
• Not Expensive.

Cons of Faces eye pencil Black molasses:

• I wish it stayed longer on my waterline. I mostly use them only as eyeliner.

• Sharpening leads to product wastage.

I like this pencil a lot. It is almost at par with long wear range. I believe the price has not been increased for these. Kindly correct me if I am wrong. Then this should be worth a shot. I am getting other pencils from this range.
