This exercise is even recommended by ophthalmologists and is great for people with poor eye muscles. Be seated and relaxed. Place your upward pointing index finger in front of your nose and focus both eyes on its tip. Move your finger away from your face, till it is at an arm length away. Don’t take your eyes off the finger. Again, bring your finger to the initial position without wavering your eyes. Repeat 3-4 times. This also aids in concentration.

4. 20-20 Focus:

To provide relief in case of persistent eyestrain and poor eye muscle strength, this is an effective exercise. If you spend long hours sitting in front of a computer screen, you should do this frequently. Focus for 20 seconds on an object close by. Then shift your focus an object lying at a distance of at least 2.5 meters for about 20 seconds. This intermittent shifting refreshes and relaxes your ocular muscles.

5. Blink:

Blinking acts as an effective cure for overworked, dry and itchy eyes. Blink your eyes rapidly for a few seconds. You will find that your irritation reduces due to more fluid spreading in your eyes.

6. Hot and Cold Compression:

At least once in every couple of days, treat your eyes with hot and cold compresses. For this, take one small bowl of hot water and another of cold water. Use a clean hand towel or handkerchief to prepare the compress. Apply hot compress first for few seconds and then switch to the cold compress. Repeat a few times.

8. Writing Messages:

To soothe the eye strain and tone those muscles, stare at a blank wall at least 8 feet away from you. Try to imagine that you are writing something on it with your eyes. Tracing an imaginary message or word on the wall makes the eye muscles move rapidly in different directions and exercises weak eye muscles. Do it for about 15-20 seconds
