Today, I am reviewing one of the most essential things in our vanity bag – it’s the make up remover. I recently got these pads from a drugstore. I have acne-prone sensitive skin and the winters has been making my skin very dry too. I find it tempting to use oily products but it leads to more acne. I was using an oil-based make up remover before this and it started breaking me out suddenly. So, I was on the look out for oil-free make up remover and I found these. Ideally, these are supposed to be eye make up remover pads, but sometimes I used them to remove face make up too 😛

My Experience with Almay Oil Free Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Pads:

When I bought these, I was expecting to find thick pads which can actually be used for full face. I was a little disappointed to see that actual pads are very thin, thinner than makeup removing wipes we use, but nevertheless, when I started using them, I find them okay.

Ingredients list looks impressive consisting of cucumber, aloe vera and green tea. It comes in a cylindrical plastic container which is very compact, light and can be carried around in the bag very easily.

These pads smell strongly of alcohol, although they say fragrance free on packaging (duh!!).  It might irritate sensitive noses.  Coming to the part whether it does its job or not, I would say they are pretty good. I used them for removing eye makeup first. One pad is sufficient usually for one eye including eye liner, kajal, waterproof mascara and light eyeshadow application. But if you did smokey eyes or used very dark eye shadow, you will need more. It removes everything very effectively in 2 or 3 swipes. It doesn’t irritate my eyes at all and hasn’t led to any pulling or fall out of eyelashes.

I used it once or twice on face too. It does its job, I mean removing make up, but it will take at least 6 or 7 pads because they are very thin. It removed makeup, didn’t break me out, didn’t cause over drying of face, but these are not meant for face, so use it with your own responsibility.  I used it on the face while I was traveling because I forgot my makeup removing swipes.
