Today, I will be writing about one of my favorite hair products. It’s the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Photo-Age Defense Hair treatment. Phew! That’s a big name. This product protects hair from UVA/UVB rays and also helps in filling up the gaps or tears such as split ends. Although the product claims to protect from a lot of things, it does not mention anywhere about providing heat protection. Isn’t it awesome to have a sunscreen for hair? So, please read on to know about the product claims and my experience using the product 🙂
Product Description:
Caviar Anti-Aging Photo-Age Defense is a protective hair shield that resurfaces your strands, filling in gaps and tears while smoothing the hair cuticle. It refracts natural and artificial light including UVA/UVB rays to prevent and reverse the damaging effects of photo degradation to restore your hair to a healthy, natural state.
How To Use:
Apply throughout towel-dried hair prior to applying other styling products. For external use only. Avoid eye contact.

My Experience with Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Photo-Age Defense:
We are all aware about the heat protectants available in the market and that its aim is to protect the hair from all the heat from the styling tools. We are also aware about sunscreen for the skin, so this product does something for the hair, what sunscreen does to our skin. Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Photo-age defense protects hair from all the natural and artificial light by refracting them from the hair and help prevent damage to hair.
This hair product has these pearls which you can see inside the bottle, but when you dispense, the pearls get mixed with the serum.
The product must be applied to towel-dried hair like a primer, and I would suggest to use a heat protectant thereafter. As I mentioned earlier, there is no mention in the description of the product whether it would provide protection against heat from the styling tools. It can also be used prior to applying any other styling product. I use this as suggested on the packaging and I have achieved good results.
I have shoulder length wavy hair now. I generally blow dry my hair straight on the day that I wash my hair. I never forget to add in my heat protectant. It keeps my blow dried/styled hair the same till the next time I wash (which is a maximum of 3 days).
This product makes my hair super shiny and healthy. It also gives good volume without making my hair slick or greasy, does not leave any residue behind.
My hair feels manageable with less tangles when I run my fingers through (like your shampoo ads :P). I would suggest people to concentrate this more on the ends of the hair and use very little product towards the root area or mid-section, because it may make the top section of the hair a bit stiff. I would like to conclude that it is a great product for people who have rough and damaged hair or spend a lot of time out in the sun. This hair product looks pricey, but then, just a little goes a long way.

Cons of Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Photo-Age Defense:
- Causes a little stiffness in the hair when you use it on dry hair, works best on towel-dried hair.

Yes, I would, provided that it is used as directed. It definitely gives good protection and improves the overall health of hair over a period of time.
