Hello friends!
How are you doing today? I am here to talk about a unique shower gel which is formulated with lesser chemicals and organic fair trade ingredients such as : apricot oil, mandarin oil etc. I have tried Andalou Naturals’ skin care products before, and find them promising for my weird skin type; I dislike their fragrance most of the times though. This shower gel has been lying in our washroom for ages now, and I could not find it earlier to review; thanx to my naughty toddler. 😀 So let’s read more about it.

My Experience with Andalou Naturals Mandarin Vanilla Vitalizing Shower Gel:
Well I bought this shower gel a while back and it used to come in a semi-opaque, dark green bottle packaging with a flip top cap opening; nothing fancy. Now they have revamped the packaging to more hygienic, travel friendly tube version. However I have no such plans to get this variant again because of its smell. 😛 It smells like Glucon D solution, though the scent subsides once I step out of the shower; by the way it is just my sensitive nose. It has a decently hydrating formula and nearly 80-90% naturally derived organic ingredients that dominate the fragrance.
The shower gel is a transparent gel based cleanser with semi-liquid consistency which is works well with a loofah as well as a body sponge. I like this gentle cleanser with its all natural ingredients as I can notice that it does not dry out my skin even in dry cold weather around. Surprisingly it is not intensely hydrating, like my other shower gels, but then I never feel an immediate need of using a body lotion post shower. I can easily skip body lotions post shower even in current dry and cool weather which further justifies its gentle and natural formula. Moreover it form rich lather with just 3-4 generous drops on the loofah with water easily cleanses the skin.
My skin feels quite light and squeaky clean post shower. The only issue I have felt so far with the cleanser is its smell, which can really make you sick if you dislike that Glucon D smell. I am almost intolerant to Glucon D’s smell, and I never drink it. 😛 But the smell subsides as soon as I leave the shower; so it’s a big relief. But then without any subtle fragrance, I don’t even feel like I took a shower. 😛
I mean a subtle, lingering fragrance is a must-have for me. Thankfully it does not accentuate dryness on my skin considering it has aloe extracts, mandarin-apricot oils that certainly help to maintain the skin’s natural hydration level without accelerating or triggering my sebum glands. Even though it is not over drying on my skin, I feel this gel is best suited for normal, combination skinned beauties all year round while dry skinned beauties might need to follow up with a lotion. I might try it again in summers with some other fragrance probably.
Let’s sum up pros and cons:
Pros of Andalou Naturals Mandarin Vanilla Vitalizing Shower Gel:
• A lightweight, naturally derived shower gel which is formulated without parabens, phthalates etc
• It forms sufficient lather with water in just 3-4 drops on a loofah or sponge
• It is not an intensely hydrating cleanser, but it does not dry out the skin either
• It has a powerful, citrusy smell which subsides as soon as I step out of the shower
• It does not accentuate or trigger body odor even though the fragrance does not last long
• It does not accentuate or cause dryness on my skin even in dry and cool weather
• It has a really gentle formula which is suitable for almost every skin type and all year round
• It is a cruelty free product
Cons of Andalou Naturals Mandarin Vanilla Vitalizing Shower Gel:
• The smell is tricky for me
• The packaging which I own is not travel friendly
• It is not 100% organic and/or natural product
• Dry skinned beauties might find it tricky in winters as it is not intensely hydrating
Well I see that Andalou did quite a commendable job by incorporating skin friendly, nearly organic and naturally derived ingredients that too at a low price. I could not locate SLS, parabens, phthalates, triclosan in its formula, so it gets big thumbs up from me. I would like to try out other variants even though they have dull packaging and not so appealing smell. 😛
