Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser Review

Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser Review

Hi Ladies,

I am going to review my first product from the brand Aveda.  I have been to a couple of spas using the brand, and have been impressed a lot.  I purchased the colour care shampoo and conditioner after highlighting my hair and at that time, I received a sample size of this product.  I have used it for 2 weeks before purchasing this a few days ago. The art and science of pure flower and plant essences is the core of Aveda. All Aveda products are professionally developed, clinically tested and are respectful to earth. Aveda connects beauty, environment and well being.

Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser 2

Our green ingredient promise at Aveda – we continually strive to increase our use of naturally derived ingredients, i.e. those in which more than 50% of the molecule comes from a plant, non-petroleum mineral, or other natural source, like water. We set other standards for use, too, like avoiding certain types of processing.

Product Description:

Our daily cleanser with jojoba exfoliating beads helps increase cell turnover and remove impurities. It’s the first step in our tourmaline charged system – created to jump start a healthy glow. Conditions skin with creamy mango butter.

My Experience with Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser:

I purchased this from the Aveda store in Sydney, Australia.  Aveda products are on the expensive side and are featured and used at many spas and salons. Beware though, that there are fake Aveda products online and at some cosmetic stores for cheaper prices. I would recommend buying this brand from the Aveda store or Aveda salons only.

This product comes in a dark green 150 ml tube with a flip top cap. The tube is quite heavy and since it is a creamy exfoliator and not a liquid of 150 ml, it is quite heavy. The product is white in colour and creamy in texture with exfoliating beads. I quite like the fragrance. It smells floral/grassy and has a typical “Aveda” fragrance which is a natural and subtle fragrance, transports you to the world of spas. The beads are jojoba beads with an exfoliating but non-abrasive texture. Tourmaline is a crystal silicate mineral used in skin care to soften skin and give more lustre.

After washing my face, I applied a small amount on my face and neck and massaged. The beads are non abrasive and I felt my face was cleaner and dry skin cells were cleared out, but my skin did not feel very dry after using this.  I have oily combination skin with the area around my lips very dry. This product did not cause any sensitivity on my skin. This product contains mango seed butter as well as oils from tomato seed, jojoba, Babassu as well as meadow foam.  These oils moisturize skin, so the exfoliation is balanced with moisturization and the skin is left feeling smooth and supple.

This exfoliating cleanser is gentle enough to be used morning and night. I have also tried using this on dry skin for deeper exfoliation (directions suggest otherwise), but if you have dry skin, use this only on wet skin.

I would recommend this exfoliating cleanser for any type of skin and its good for daily use. The only reservation I have is the price.

Pros of Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser:

  • Contains jojoba beads to gently exfoliate skin.
  • Contains mango butter, jojoba seed oil, tomato seed oil as well as Babassu oil to moisturize skin.
  • Makes skin soft supple and bright.
  • Aveda products are earth-friendly products.
  • Aveda follows ayurvedic principles and uses natural ingredients as much as possible that promote mind, body, spirit connection.
  • Smells divine and gives a feeling of relaxation.

Cons of Aveda Tourmaline Charged Exfoliating Cleanser:

  • Aveda products are quite pricey.
  • This cleanser is quite bulky and comes with a flip top cap, so not travel friendly.
  • Because of the consistency and tube packaging, it might be difficult to get the last bit of product out from packaging.

IMBB Rating:

4/5

This tube will last me a very long time, but I will definitely repurchase this later as it has been difficult for me to find an exfoliating cleanser which treats the oily as well as dry parts of my face equally well.
