Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser – Is It Worth the Money?

Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser – Is It Worth the Money?

Hi all,

Today, I am reviewing Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser for you all. I have dry-combination, super-sensitive and acne-prone skin, so anything which says “blemish treatment” or “prevents breakouts” does catch my attention. I have read many good reviews about this cleanser and Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser too got good points on IMBB, so I picked this version up and hoped and prayed that it would work same as its foaming cousin. But was it unto the mark? Read on to find out.

Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser

My Experience with Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser:

The cleanser comes in a cream-colored tube which has a light green colored flip open cap. The cap shuts with a click, but somehow, I still have doubts on taking it along while traveling. I always feel that the cap will open up even if a little bit of pressure is exerted on the tube, so I don’t find it travel friendly.  The cleanser is white in color and has a creamy consistency. It has green microbeads which are loosely packed in the creamy cleanser and they exfoliate gently.  The microbeads do a good job of exfoliation but you have to be very gentle or else they could be pretty harsh on your face.

Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser

I picked this cleanser up mainly because of its claims of clearing out breakouts and improving skin texture. When I got this one, I did not have any breakouts, but yes, the aftermath of breakouts i.e. lots of deep pitted scars. The first time I used it, a couple of pimples emerged; well I thought that it was reaction of using any new product on my skin and eventually this cleanser will clear it out (obviously! this is what this cleanser is for) but alas it did not happen. 🙁 Finally my zit zapper came to my rescue. I have been using this cleanser for 3 weeks now and in all the time it didn’t clear or prevent breakouts, instead, I always have at least a couple of pesky pimples on my face, grrr!!! But it did work for my hubby.

Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser

He has normal and clear skin and gets one – two very occasional zits. He used it when he got those eruptions and it did clear those up in just a couple of washes. So I guess, it works differently for every skin.

Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser

The cleanser does not foam at all and gives me a feeling that I am using some facial scrub albeit with loosely-packed granules. It does not remove makeup (not even the BB cream). It did leave my dry flaky skin moisturized though and also I don’t have any dry patches on my face anymore. But yes, sometimes it does gives me a weird feeling, like I still have some residue on my skin and my face does not feel squeaky clean. Though, this product has received many rave reviews across the blogosphere, I guess it is not for me. Also, oily skinned beauties better skip this since being creamy, it would leave a greasy layer on the skin.

Pros of Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser:

  • Paraben free.
  • Does not dry out skin.
  • Leaves my skin moisturized.
  • Does not remove makeup.
  • Cleared dry patches off my face.
  • Microbeads are gentle on the skin.

Cons of Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser:

  • Did not clear my breakouts, in fact I got more eruptions while using this 🙁 (worked well for my hubby though).
  • Gives a feeling that some residue is still on my face even after thorough rinsing.
  • Will leave a greasy layer on the skin for oily-skinned gals.
  • Tube doesn’t seem travel friendly.

IMBB Rating:

2.5/5 according to me.
3.5/5 according to hubby.

Would I Repurchase Aveeno Clear Complexion Cream Cleanser?

Well, I am not repurchasing it at all, it did nothing for me. Though it worked for hubby, he prefers foaming cleansers. Also, I would suggest oily-skinned gals not to use it. Since it worked differently on different skin types, if you have sensitive skin, better skip this one.
