Today, I am reviewing yet another mascara from my kitty – the bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara in the shade “Intense Black.” Read on to find out if it is any more special than the drugstore mascaras.

My Experience with bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara:

Packaging: This mascara comes in a chubby silver-colored packaging with a cap which has a twisted design. There is nothing new or unique in terms of the outer packaging and this is a pretty standard mascara packaging.

Brush: The brush on this mascara has a unique design – it has a twisted spiral design and nice big plastic bristles. This spiral design is supposed to curve around the lashes and coat all angles with the mascara. Honestly, I am not too big a fan of the spiral brush as I feel that it causes uneven distribution of the mascara on the lashes. And I need to spend extra time trying to comb through the lashes and getting the mascara evenly spread. Probably better results could have been achieved with a simpler, less gimmicky brush.

Formula/Performance:  The mascara gives visible length and volume to my lashes. I also notice a slight curling effect. Layering does give some more volume, but it also leads to clumping. I have to warn you that you need to be careful while applying this mascara and probably stop at a single coat as it does have a tendency to clump into a gloopy mess. It also has a tendency to smear and I end up with black smudges underneath my eye. It does not stay put on my eyes for more than 4-5 hrs without traveling all around my eyes.

Though it smears and smudges, it is difficult to get off at the end of the day and you do need an eye makeup remover to get rid of all the traces.

To summarize, this mascara does provide decent lengthening and volume to the lashes. However, the formula is pretty bad, and clumps and smears. Not something you would expect from an $18 mascara.

• More than 2 coats results in clumping.

• Gimmicky brush makes the application uneven.
• Expensive (for what it does not do).

Would I Repurchase/Recommend bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara – Intense Black?
I would not recommend this mascara as it clumps and smears and is pretty expensive.  There are so many better drugstore mascaras and I would not repurchase this.
