My Experience with bareMinerals Prime Time BB Primer Cream – Light:

Packaging: This product comes in a pump packaging which does make it very easy to use and travel friendly as well as hygienic. The pump mechanism has a cap over it which attaches securely. You have to make sure to wipe the pump after every use because the residue product makes the cap dirty.

Texture/Feel/Coverage: This product has a very thin consistency. It spreads on the skin with a slight slippery feel due to the silicone content in the ingredients, but once it sets on the skin, the feeling is not like “fake skin” (common with silicone primers). It makes skin feel soft and supple, blurring out pores.  But if you have problematic pores, this product alone may not be enough to make your pores completely disappear, but it will reduce the appearance of pores.  It also helps in smoothing out the texture of skin.

This product offers sheer coverage. It will even out your skin tone to some extent and reduce appearance of redness. It brightens and lifts the complexion. If you are someone with fairly clear skin, you can use this product in place of a foundation for something lightweight on the skin, which provides a bit of tint too. This product can be used alone or under the foundation.

Finish and Look on skin:  The finish this product gives is very natural, it’s neither too matte nor dewy. I do not like that this product offers little to no hydration to the skin which can pose a big problem for people with dry skin like me. Whenever I have worn this product, I have to take care to moisturize my skin extensively or it will stick and accentuate dry patches on my skin, even the ones I didn’t know I had and makes them look flaky. Consequently, every foundation I put on top of those areas will also appear uneven, dry, patchy and flaky.

Staying Power:  This product wore well with little to no fading throughout the day. It provided decent oil control and my skin did not get shiny through the day. I did not see any effect in terms of increasing the staying power of my foundation when worn on top of this primer.

I love how this product also provided SPF 30 protection, which is good enough for everyday wear.

Overall, I like a lot of qualities about this primer, but my biggest issue with this product remains how it horribly accentuates my dry patches and the reason I will give this product negative rating. If you are someone with fairly clear and normal skin, you may like this as an everyday product which gives your skin light coverage and blurs out pores providing good sun protection. For any other skin type, I will not recommend this.

  • Blurs pores and smooths texture of the skin.
  • Does not give a very silicone-y feel to the skin.

Cons of bareMinerals Prime Time BB Primer Cream – Light:

  • Horribly sticks to and accentuates my dry patches.

  1. The serum foundation also highlighted the dry patches, isn’t it? Even though I have oily skin, I dont like products that cling to dry areas
