My Experience with bareMinerals Well-Rested CC Eye Primer:

Packaging:  I love the easy-to-use twist-up mechanism. The cap closes securely and the tube is retractable.

Texture and Application:  Upon application, it imparts a wonderful cooling sensation which refreshes my tired eye area. The cooling sensation barely lasts a couple of seconds hence it is not very effective in reducing under eye puffiness but it does feel very nice.

The texture of this eye primer is smooth and creamy. The application on the skin is very silky smooth and swipes on without any tug. When you blend it out by patting it into the skin with your fingers, it does have a dry texture and is not as emollient as other creamy products, but it still blends effortlessly as long as you do it quickly.

Pigmentation and Finish:  This eye primer gives sheer to medium coverage. It camouflages all discoloration and visible veins on my eyelids and gives me a smooth canvas to do my eye makeup. The coverage is good and this is perfect match for my light-medium skin tone hence I can also wear it as a concealer on days I would like a “well-rested” look to my eyes and not have my “designer” eye bags be on full display :P. It instantly brightens my eye area and I like that it has a yellow tone to it which helps with the brightening effect. I can also use this to spot conceal. This is the product I reach for when I am in a hurry as it a multi-tasking product.

Since this product only comes in one shade, it may be a problem for those with medium-deep skin tones. It sets within seconds to a complete matte finish which I appreciate as I do have oily eye area and always need to set any product applied to prevent it from getting shiny and creasing. I do not feel the need to top this with a powder as there is no bothersome tacky feeling or shine coming through.

You can use this product alone or underneath a powder product as you would normally use an eye primer for. Since I use it all over my lid including my under eyes, it makes a great base for both eye shadow and heavy-duty concealer (if I do decide to opt for more coverage). I haven’t noticed a whole lot of difference in how my eye product wears over this vs on their own. Yes, it does help them look a bit more vibrant and helps smooth over fine lines hence help prevent creasing to some extent, but due to the lack of super tacky feeling, it is not as outstanding as my other eyeshadow primers. My eyeshadows don’t wear as long with this primer vs when I use an actual eye primer like Urban Decay Primer Potion vs bareMinerals Primetime.

bareMinerals Well-Rested CC Eye Primer

Overall, this is a great product. I love the cooling effect, good coverage with a matte finish (which is perfect for those with oily eye area) perfect for everyday use all over the eye or as a concealer. I feel this will a great addition to everyone makeup kit. I will recommend this.

Pros of bareMinerals Well-Rested CC Eye Primer:

  • Easy to use, retractable packaging.
  • Cooling effect when applied.
  • Easy to blend with fingertips.
  • Matte finish.
  • Good coverage, makes the eyes look brightened and less tired.
  • Can be used as a primer or concealer for those with light-medium skin tone.
  • No creasing.
  • Good staying power.

Cons of bareMinerals Well-Rested CC Eye Primer:

  • Not very emollient hence may pose problems for those with dry eye areas.
  • Comes only in one shade which may be a problem for deeper skin tones if using on it own as a primer without topping it with eyeshadow and/or as a concealer.
  • Not very tacky hence doesn’t do a good job of making eyeshadow adhere to it as some other eye primers. If you are looking for a strong hold eyeshadow primer, this product is not it.
  • The cooling sensation lasts barely a few seconds hence that may not be enough time to reduce puffiness.
