Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Malibu Smooth Body Scrub Review

I was away for quite some time, but I am back now and you will see more reviews from me. 😀 I was really really busy, didn’t have time to breathe, literally. 😉 Well, it was my hubby’s birthday and I wanted to make it extra special for the most special person in my life. 🙂 We had a blast and he was super duper happy and obviously that made me happy too. 😀 Anyway, coming to the review, today’s product is “True Blue Spa Malibu Smooth Body Scrub.” I don’t like sugar scrubs at all, they melt quickly before I could even get the scrubbed feeling. 😉 Due to this reason, I don’t buy scrubs from Bath and Body Works since most of their scrubs are sugar scrubs. But this one is different, 😛 I mean it has walnut shell particles, so I picked this one up.

My Experience with Bath and Body Works  True Blue Spa Malibu Smooth Body Scrub:

Let us start with the packaging – the scrub comes in a tube packing which I feel is very convenient. The tube is very huge and has a flip top cap. The cap closes with a click and I feel that it will not come out when tossed in a bag, making the tube travel friendly.

The scrub has an amazing tropical fragrance. The scent is very citrusy and orange and really awesome and surely reminds me of some beach and island. 😀  The scrub has a gel-like consistency which has the walnut shell granules suspended in it along with golden shimmer particles. The consistency is a bit slimy, may be because of algae extract. 😛 Don’t sneer at the mention of algae, (well, these were exactly my expressions when I read what this scrub contains 😛 ) this ingredient is beneficial for our skin. 🙂 I did a little search on Google and found that Algae, interchangeably called seaweed is actually good for our skin. It hydrates and detoxifies the skin. It is rich in antioxidants, protects our skin against free radical damage. It also contains omega 3 fatty acids which help in reducing the fine lines and wrinkles. 🙂

Coming back to the scrub, anything with walnut shells is usually a winner for me, but with this one I feel that the walnut shell particles are very fine and loosely dispersed in the base. I would have preferred if the grains were a bit coarser and more densely packed.

It does contain SLS and so it lathers but I don’t mind it as this performs a two-in-one task for me and I don’t have to use a shower gel separately. However, for a thorough scrub, I need a bit more quantity of this, so I prefer using it with a loofah, the way I use my TBS body polishes. It provides a very light exfoliation, hence I feel that it could be used 2-3 times a week. It rinses well and doesn’t leave any residue behind.

It does leave my skin clean, soft and smooth and doesn’t dry it out though my dry skin does require moisturizer afterwards.

As the description says, I have not used is before getting a fake tan, because I normally tan so much that I have to search for ways to remove the tan, instead of getting one. 😉 But I feel, it would be a great product for beauties who like to get a fake tan since it does not leave any oily/greasy residue on the skin and so the tanner can sink in fully 🙂

Cons of Bath and Body Works  True Blue Spa Malibu Smooth Body Scrub:

• Grains could have been coarser and more densely packed.
• Provides very light exfoliation.
• Too much quantity is needed for a good scrub.
• Contains SLS.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Bath and Body Works  True Blue Spa Malibu Smooth Body Scrub?

I don’t think I would be repurchasing it in the near future as I prefer a coarser body scrub. It works same as my TBS body polishes and I have a number of body polishes to finish, as of now. 😛  But this is a good product for people who like their scrubs to be gentler and prefer mild exfoliation. 🙂
