Bath & Body Works White Citrus Body Splash Review

Bath and Body Works White Citrus Body Splash Review

Hello everyone! I’m here with a new fragrance review. I’ve really missed writing these for IMBB. This review is for Bath and Body Works’ White Citrus Body Splash. I’m always delighted when I find a fragrance that isn’t expensive but smells quite nice and works well with my body chemistry. This is what White Citrus is for me.

Here is the description of the scent:

This scent is available in other forms, including Eau de toilette, shower gel, and lotion. What I have is the body splash. It’s recommended to spritz it all over to leave a light scent on the skin. The body splash has a lighter concentration than the Eau de toilette, therefore it’s better to spray the product liberally.

According to Bath and Body Works, White Citrus is their ‘fresh, modern interpretation of classic citrus’. Yup, this is definitely a fresh-smelling, zesty citrus, though I’m not sure it’s a very unique or different interpretation. It is rather simple, but nice.

The fragrance is quite like the first photo in this post—refreshing, simple, and pretty. Spraying it, I’m met with a zesty, zingy blend of lemon and tangerine, which smells nothing at all like a cleaning product, the way some lemon fragrances might. There’s a tiny bit of sweetness from the grapefruit, and it becomes softer and a very light, floral citrus once the floral notes emerge, out of which I particularly smell the freesia and lily of the valley. When the zesty blast and the floral addition have faded, what is left on my skin is a very mild, clean scent that reminds me of soap.

The scent is very easygoing and casual; I’d wear it daytime or night time, and though I don’t wear it these days, it is just perfect for summer. It is very refreshing for hot days. I’d imagine if I put it in the fridge, and then sprayed it, it would be five times more refreshing! Another thing about the scent—it’s very light. Great for days when I don’t want to wear any scent that’s remotely heavy.

What’s disappointing about the White Citrus Body Splash though, is that it does not last long at all. Several sprays on my arms give only about 2 hours worth of wear or even less. But my tip to make this last longer, or any other light scents or splashes, is to also spray on your clothes in addition to your skin. Unlike perfumes, it’s okay to spray this many times, since it’s so light, and also because the 8 oz bottle is huge and feels like it’ll never run out.

To make a scent stronger, I would suggest layering it with the other products from the same fragrance line. For example, one could use Bath and Body Works’ White Citrus shower gel first, then the lotion, after that the body splash, and finally the Eau de toilette. That should definitely improve the sillage of the scent.
Overall, I like this product well enough, but would not buy it again because the bottle is huge and takes time to finish, and I’d like to try other affordable, low-end citrus scents.
