Benefit Creaseless Eyeshadow Sippin n Dipping

Dear Beauties,

Today I’ll be reviewing my very first Benefit product with which I have had love and hate relationship! Yes I am talking about Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in the shade Sippin’ n Dippin’. When I first came across this shade I was totally blown away by the fact that its almost exact dupe to Mac’s Rubenesque paint pot which I have been eyeing since like forever. So when I found Sippin’ n Dippin’ on huge discount on an online store I immediately ordered.

Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner comes in 12 shades and is priced at 19$ for 4.5g. They are available across all Sephora’s, online from Benefit website and across all Benefit counters.

What does Benefit say:– Blendable, beautiful…this do-it-all shadow lines, shades, and contours your eyes with a lovely crease-proof, smudge-proof formula. Mix & match…layer on for the desired depth…go as sheer or as dramatic as you like with buildable color. These gorgeous creams come in 12 blendable shades that can be worn alone or mixed for endless custom looks. How To Apply:-
Shadowing: for sheer coverage, blend evenly from the lash line to brow bone. For buildable coverage, let shadow set for 30 seconds then apply another layer.

Lining: Sweep tip of brush into shadow. Place edge of brush against upper lash line at outer corner of eye and steadily draw a line towards the inner corner of eye. Gently smudge into lash line for a sexy, softer look. Repeat on lower lashes.

My experience:-

To be honest I was really very excited about this product since it is a dupe to MAC’s Rubenesque and i have been wanting Rubenesque since a long time now but this product did not really live upto my expectations! Lets start with the packaging first, Benefit is known for their funky and creative packaging of retro looks. The creaseless cream shadow/liner comes in a cute box packaging along with detailed set of instructions on the usage given in 7 different languages! The actual product comes in glass tub very similar to MAC’s paint pot. The jar itself is very sturdy and fit for travelling. Full marks on packaging!

The shade is very very pretty peachy gold and I feel it will look very flattering on fair to medium skin tones, it might not work for dusky skin tones or very pale skin tones but it can be layered pretty well for the color to show up. The shade is gorgeous for indian functions and will go well with indian outfits. On its own it does not work well for my dark pigmented eyelids so I usually use it as an eyeshadow base and it helps to increase the wear time of my eyeshadows and stays put throughout the whole day. It definitely is smude proof! When used on its own it does fade a little.

The texture of the product is very creamy! I find it more creamier than MAC’s paint pots (I have 3 of them), so what is the problem you might ask? This one does not blend well at all!!! The moment you apply it on eyelids it starts to set and does not blend well, it looks patchy and disturbing! I feel this is because these set extremely fast so one has to be very very very quick in blending or else they will turn in dirty patches which trust me is not at all flattering especially on your eyes! I have tried everything and always it turns patchy, I have tried using a concealer + powder underneath, urban decay’s primer portion, paint pots, eye cream etc etc but nothing has given me good results. I don’t know if I am doing something wrong or if I have got a bad piece but if someone know’s how to make this work please please do let me know in the comments below because on its own this does not work well as an shadow for me!

Pros:-
-> Beautiful peachy gold shade
->Highly creamy in texture
-> Smudge and Waterproof
-> Dupe of MAC’s Rubenesque!
-> Versatile – can be used as liner or eyeshadow
-> Works well as eyeshadow base
-> Does not crease
-> Stays put the whole day

Cons:-
-> Does not blend well at all!!! Appears patchy!
-> Sets very very quick!
-> People with dry eyelids stay away cos it will emphasize them even more
-> Intensity fades a little if used as eyeshadow on its own.

Price:– 18$ for 4.5g

Rating:– 3.5 out of 5

Do I recommend:- No! though the shade is gorgeous it does not work on its own as an eyeshadow and does not blend well at all! I am quite disappointed with this one and will probably get Rubenesque next.

Hope the review was helpful to you all, until next time tc and stay beautiful

  1. You think imaybe it was an old piece since it was on heavy discount..and that’s why not working well? I have bought only one mac paint pot till now, and i don’t use it coz it doesn’t blend properly and creases on me within 3-4hrs πŸ™ i guess product performance varies from person to person..
    Loved it on your eyes though! πŸ™‚

    1. I too think it might be old piece but i checked out other benefit’s creaseless products in sephora n they too don’t blend well..though some are gorgeous shades n i was tempted..i have never had issues with paint pots..they work really well on my skin…have u tried using a primer portion first n then the paint pot?

  2. it looks like such a nice shade parita. I would have definitely picked it up now that it is easily available here . Thanks for the review. Looks nice on your eyes though. πŸ™‚

  3. It looks great on u parita dear.. πŸ™‚ Planning to buy blush n bronzer u reviewed earlier!! though its really disappointing to knw dat its an okay okay pdt at such huge price!! I wud rather stay away from it!!

  4. sippin n dippin is a gorgeous shade n although it doesnt work well on its own it looks gorgeous when paired with a darker crease colour….agree that it sets pretty fast but i usually use my fingers to blend this and so far ive had no issues……
