Actually, I am gaining weight like a panda as I am eating a lot of buns and freshly baked cakes (courtesy: the cool, rainy weather); people are wondering if I am going to be a mommy soon. 😛 Also, I was dying to flaunt my floral chiffon dresses. My Experience with Benefit The POREfessional Agent Zero Shine:

how to use

The loose powder comes in a unique sleek cylindrical packaging with a twist-over brush applicator at one end and the powder outlet at the other end. The packaging gets securely locked with a cap. I am not impressed with that small and a bit rough brush, though it works well for quick touch-ups. I am becoming a fan of this stylish packaging, I must say. This in-built ‘close & open’ mechanism along with the small lid prevents spillage and accidental leakage too.

packaging

This ultra lightweight powder is definitely true to its description as it feels almost feather light on my skin. However, as I already mentioned, the twist over brush applicator is really small and a bit rough. I mean, the brush is a bit small and dense which works only for dabbing and for spot treatment for me as I am more comfortable with a sponge or my Urban Decay Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush to brush on this powder on cheeks and T-zone.

brush

The brush is a bit rough, though not pokey, but it is not something I would usually prefer for my skin. However, the concept is definitely commendable and I won’t mind dabbing it for quick touch- ups. The powder appears light peachy beige to me and the fact that it does not impart any color makes it suitable for every skin tone. Oh yes, it simply sweeps the dullness and oil off our skin without imparting any white or ghastly cast whether I use it alone over moisturized skin or simply use it as a setting powder.

dispenser

It does contain talc but, thankfully, I don’t see any chalky or cakey finish on my skin. I have tried it both ways and I like the way it makes my skin look smooth and shine-free without any dryness and/or emphasized fine lines, unlike what mattifying powders usually do. Not to forget, it considerably shrinks the pore size, but then even my normal moisturizer does that. In fact, I am also not impressed with the staying power as I notice oily T zone by the end of the 5th hour, especially when I sweep it over bare moisturized skin. I see no contribution of this powder in controlling shine or oil, to be honest.

shine-vanishing powder

But, as I said, most of the mattifying powders often make my skin a bit dry and rough, and often tend to sit over even mild dry patches. Hence, I am impressed that the agent zero shine has never disappointed me in this aspect. I mean, if you are in your mid 30s or something, you would understand the significance of a dewy, juicy, youthful finish and this agent zero shine simply works without ripping off the moisture or accentuating the uneven and dry texture on my cheeks; this is promising enough for women in their 30s and 40s if you know what I mean.

swatch

Summing it up for you, it is definitely promising and worth trying for normal, oily, and combination skin types and even for problematic skin. However, considering the price and the average staying power, I think we can live without it as well. Personally, I might simply keep it for minimal makeup days, but I do have better products in my stash hence I won’t get it again.

Let’s sum up pros and cons
