I was surprised to find that no one had reviewed BioSilk Silk Therapy serum on IMBB yet. BioSilk is one of the top hair serums recommended by hair stylists and is equally popular among the masses. Why? Well, you’d have to read this review to find that out!
Product Background and Description
The serum is manufactured and marketed by Farouk Systems, the owner of other popular hair brands like SunGlitz and CHI (of the hair iron and products fame). It is described as “the original weightless, leave-in silk replenishing and reconstructing treatment to repair, smooth and protect all hair types.” The silk infused serum keeps one’s “strands silky smooth and strengthens, repairs, and revitalizes [the hair]. Through innovative technology, BioSilk protects your hair against heat, cold and humidity. It is suitable for all hair types and promises incredible shine with every use.

My Experience with BioSilk Silk Therapy Serum:
The best advice I got for hair care went something like this, “treat your hair just as carefully as the finest and most delicate silk.” This basically entails limiting the use of heat, alcohol- laden products and harsh shampoos. Our hair is pretty fragile and needs to be treated with care, that part is true, but on most days my hair doesn’t feel like silk, nor do I treat it like silk. However, using this serum makes it feel pretty darn close to silk.
I have been using BioSilk on and off for years now. BioSilk’s texture is just like any other serum; it is light, easy to apply on to the hair and a teeny tiny drop is good enough for the whole hair. I once used a little too much by mistake (it was about one teaspoon full) and my hair looked like I had oiled it! So, lesson is that less is definitely more with this product!
On me, it works best when I use heat to style my hair. It literally transforms hair from coarse and frizzy to smooth and silky. When I don’t have time to blow dry or flat iron, I put some of this on towel dried hair and tie my hair in a loose braid or put it in a bun. The result: just in a couple of hours, smooth and silky waves. This product is a compliment magnet, you can expect everyone to “ooh-ah” over your hair because the results are pretty amazing!
As much as I love the results BioSilk gives me, I don’t use it every day. It makes my hair oily really quickly; my hair is often flat the next day. This works best for special occasions, when you really want that silky, shiny, shampoo-ad type hair! Because it’s loaded with silicones and alcohol, I would not recommend it for everyday use. I haven’t experienced it, but these ingredients are known to make hair dry and brittle over time. If you do get the opportunity to try it out, perhaps, your experience will be different. As for me, just as a preventative measure, I restrict myself from using this more than twice a week.
Pros of BioSilk Silk Therapy Serum:
- Makes hair really feel like silk. You get immediate, impressive results.
- Little bit goes a long way. The bottle is tiny, but it lasts a really long time.
- Controls frizz. Works all day and prevents frizzies even in humid climate.
- Smells really good. It smells pretty strong at first, but mellows down to a pleasant fragrance once on the hair.
- Works even if you just air dry your hair. You can skip the hot tools and still get great results.
Cons of BioSilk Silk Therapy Serum:
- Cones, cones, cones. The silicone in this can do a lot of damage in the long run!
- For me, my hair goes flat the next day.
