Bite Beauty Rosewood Butter Cream Lipstick Review

This review will be on the Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick in the shade “Rosewood.”

Bite Beauty Rosewood Butter Cream Lipstick

Product Description:

A creamy lipstick in universal n*de and neutral shades. Enhance your natural lip color with BITE’s Butter Cream Lipstick. To achieve the creamiest lipstick, Bite developed a technique to hand cut each bullet, removing the outer waxy layer to expose each lipstick’s impossibly creamy core. Infused with five nourishing, aromatic butters, including lavender, shea, almond, pomegranate, and chamomile, this hand-cut and flat tipped bullet delivers portable, easy application in a range of universal, wearable nudes and neutrals that leave a silky finish.

What else you need to know:

“I was obsessed with creating the creamiest lipstick texture ever possible, and when I created this hand-cut technique in the lab, I knew it was the one. It creates a texture that is hands-down habit-forming. Nothing I have ever tried compares to this impossibly creamy texture filled with good-for-you ingredients.”—Susanne Langmuir, Founder and CEO.

Packaging:  Comes in a sleek thick tube with a magnetic closure. This new range of lipsticks by Bite features a “hand cut” bullet. The idea is that the core of the lipstick is creamier than the outer layer which is exposed by the hand cut aspect.  I do find this idea to be gimmicky and I did not find the texture of this lipstick to be mind-blowingly creamy as claimed.  Also, the flat top does make application a bit difficult especially when it comes to going around the edges of the lips and the cupid’s bow.

Texture:  This lipstick is no doubt creamy, but it is not the ceramist lipstick I have ever used (NARS Audacious is creamier and smoother), but it does glide on the lips easily. This lipstick does not have a smoothing texture. It does seem to accentuate fine lines especially if you apply a thicker coat and that does not look very flattering. But you do not face this issue if you apply it sparingly.

Pigmentation:  It does deliver opaque pigmentation in 2-3 swipes. More than one swipe is needed for the color to look even. You can build up the intensity of the color with the swipes. You can get the lightest, just bitten shade of color on the lips with a light layer or get full deep color just like in the hand swatch with 2-3 swipes. In the LOTD, I have applied 2 layers.

Shade and Finish:  I own 4 shades out of the 8 released by Bite Beauty. I have previously reviewed the shade “Heather.” The shade “Rosewood” is described as a deep plum rose. It does have that deep pinkish plum tone to it. On me, it looks like a very wearable everyday shade. It is a MLBB shade for my lips.  This lipstick has a crème sheen finish which dries down to a satin in about an hour or so.

Staying Power:  The staying power is okay. It stays 5-6 hours on my lips. It does transfer. Since this is a deeper shade, the wear time is better than lighter shades.  My lips did feel comfortable throughout the wear time. The lipstick did not dry out my lips at all.

Fragrance:  This lipstick has a very strong fruity scent and also tastes sweet.

Overall, I do like this lipstick mostly because I appreciate the fact that all of Bite lipsticks including this one feature food-grade ingredients. But they are not my favorite as I have used much better, pigmented, much creamier and smoother lipsticks that didn’t accentuate my fine lines on the lips in the past. These lipsticks are also $4 more than the popular luminous crème lipstick from the same brand.

Hence I will only recommend this to you if you are one who is tempted by natural, organic, food-grade ingredients, quite unique in the makeup industry. If you are looking for quality and better-performing lipsticks, I suggest you give this a skip.

Pros of Bite Beauty Rosewood Butter Cream Lipstick:

  • Natural, organic food-grade ingredients.
  • Beautiful every day shade, MLBB shade.
  • Creamy and smooth.
  • Does not tug at the lips.
  • Nice fruity scent and taste.
  • Does not dry out my lips.

Cons of Bite Beauty Rosewood Butter Cream Lipstick:

  • Expensive, even more than the regular Bite Beauty luminous crème lipsticks.
  • Hand cut aspect is gimmicky and serves no real purpose.
  • Flat top does make application difficult.
  • Not a huge color range to choose from.
  • Not the creamiest lipstick as claimed.
