Boots No7 Precision Lip Pencil in Blush Review

Hi everyone,

I’m back with another review for you all and this time it’s another No7 product. I know I have reviewed quite a lot of No7 products, but that’s because I buy many items in sets, which means I get to try out more products and pay less for them. If I like the products, I like to buy the full-sized version. The product I’m going to review today was actually given to me by my mum and it is the No7 Precision Lips Pencil in the shade “Blush.”  To read my thoughts of this product, please keep on reading!

Product Description:

No7 Precision Lips Pencil is a soft and smooth moisturising pencil for ultimate lip definition.

My Take on Boots No7 Precision Lip Pencil in Blush:

This lip liner comes in a twist-up tube, rather than in a pencil. I much prefer this style of packaging to a pencil and it is really useful that it comes with an in-built sharpener (which I unfortunately lost!) The formula of this pencil is very creamy and glides onto the lips really easily, leaving a very opaque and matte finish. As the name suggests, I have a lot of control and precision when applying the lip pencil onto my lips and I find it really easy to outline my lips with.

As for the shade, I don’t think this particular shade complements my skin tone. I have dark skin and I find that the shade of this lip liner clashes with my skin color; however, for fairer skin tones, I think that this shade would look great, a lovely shade of pink. The swatches on my hand make the colour of the lip liner appear darker than it is but on the lips, it is not so dark, I think it has more of a mauve-pink tone. Although the shade doesn’t suit me, I have found ways to make it work on me.

I personally like to line my lips, fill them in and then blot the excess and layer over a lip gloss to make it look more wearable. Or, I like to use my fingers to press some of the colour onto my lips and that way, the colour is a lot sheerer, so it looks a lot better. I think that this lip liner works as a really nice pink n*de shade.  Once I blot the excess or dab the lip liner on my lips with a light hand, it really is a perfect n*de on my lips. A quick tip for women who have darker skin; most women who have darker skin, also tend to have pigmented lips and it can be hard to find a n*de shade to suit. N*de lipstick that suit fairer skin tones can appear too milky on darker lips, so look for a colour such as a darker shade of pink, mauve or brown. It will act as a perfect n*de shade for people who have darker skin and, in particular, darker, pigmented lips.

As I have mentioned, this pencil formula is very creamy and although it feels nice when applying, I don’t think it lasts that long on the lips. I have worn this lip liner and layered it with lip gloss and after a few hours, it has faded off my lips and it has also bled outside the corners of my lips. I must mention, I normally don’t apply a thick, opaque coat of lip liner on my lips, I normally dab it on sparingly so perhaps if you were to apply it onto the lips fully, it would last longer.  I don’t think that this lip liner is budge proof or smudge proof during eating and drinking, the colour definitely fades and almost disappears.

Also, although I blot my lips several times after applying this lip liner, there is still quite a bit of colour transfer afterwards.

IMBB Rating:

3.9/5

I think that this lip liner is pretty good, but I was a little let down by the fact that it tends to smudge and bleed and it also doesn’t last very long on my lips. I’m not sure if that’s because I don’t apply a lot of lip liner to begin with, but I would have expected it to last on my lips for longer, regardless of how much lip liner I put on. I would still like to try some more colours though because No7 have a pretty impressive range of shades. Anyway, I hope you liked my review and I’ll be back soon with another one!
