Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick – Red Sunrise Review

Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick – Red Sunrise Review

Hi Beauties,

I am a self-proclaimed hoarder of beauty stuff. The SAs at my local beauty shops cannot stop grinning from ear to ear when they see me entering the shop. They know that if I see something good, I will never stop at buying just one. I will buy at least two products from the same variant – sometimes more. I love bright colors. Though n*de colors are useful, I somehow don’t buy them very often. A few days back, I had reviewed this variant of lipstick in the shade 02 Fuchsia Libre which was a hot pink color. Today, I am taking a break from my concealer reviews, and reviewing another shade from the same collection. It is named “01 – Red Sunrise.

My Experience with Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick – Red Sunrise:

I have already talked about this product in my review post a few days back. Hence I won’t bore you with the same details again. I will mainly highlight the key points.  The product comes in a retractable pencil form, housed in a similar color plastic body. You will easily recognize this shade if you have more than one of the same product.  It has a mild, pleasant fragrance; and a slight plumping effect on the lips. The formula is very smooth, creamy and extremely moisturizing on the lips. The tip of the pencil is very useful in outlining the lips, after which you can fill the lips with the color.

The formula is extremely pigmented, and gives a very good color pay-off. The color remains glossy on the lips for 3-4 hours and then turns semi matte. A light meal will take off the sheen, whereas a heavy meal will take off the entire color, leaving a nice tint on the lips.  It does not dry out the lips even after fading. However, I have found that if I apply this color with a very light hand, my lips do tend to dry out a bit. It has a SPF of 15, which is decent enough to protect the lips from the sun. The formula is light, non-sticky but extremely rich. It does not sit on my lip lines. It rather covers up the lines, giving a smooth, glossy and polished look to the lips. It does not feather or bleed even a single bit.

I would have liked it to have more than four shades, but even these four shades are so pretty, I cannot complain much. The color Red Sunrise is an extremely wearable reddish pink color. It will look good on all skin tones. It is not very vamp-y looking. The finish is very smooth and glossy. You will not need to apply a lip balm or moisturise or exfoliate the lips before its application. It can be used on any kind of lips, any degree of pigmentation on lips, and it will still look fresh, opaque, glossy and extremely appealing.

IMBB Rating:

4.3/5. Yes, I have rated this lower than Fuchsia Libre since tends to dry out a bit if applied with a very light hand.  This color is an extremely lovely shade of red. It looks very glossy and glamorous on the lip. It is a very lovely red color, though not pure red color. It is suitable to all skin tones, and will make you look and feel very sophisticated indeed.

  1. It’s a lovely colour – and it looks so good on you, absolutely lovely – but how is that red? It looks pink, with perhaps a tinge of coral. A nice pink, but pink nonetheless.

I just got a Nyx lipstick from Fabbag called “Sparkling Red”. Swear to god, it’s a pink. Not a reddish pink. Not a coral/orange/deep/maroon pink. Just pink.

Why do companies do this? are the experts so dazed by looking at colours all day they can’t tell which is which anymore? 🙁

I think I am going to have to buy the Bourjois lip crayons, they look fantastic.
