My Experience with Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick 36 Pourpre Jazzy:

The lipstick comes in glossy black rectangular case with a shade indicator attached at the bottom of the lipstick. The shade number is mentioned on the indicator. This helps in locating the lipstick in the stash amongst all the other lipsticks. The price, shade name, date of expiry and ingredients are mentioned on the sticker attached to the case. The case click locks and can easily be carried around for touch ups on the go. There is no outer covering for the case and the lipstick doesn’t come properly sealed and can be opened by anybody at the store. This is something that drugstore brands should look into.

Now, coming to the shade, Poupre Jazzy is a dark plummy pink shade. It is a bold shade which instantly brightens up a dull face and makes the complexion appear almost two tones lighter. This would suit all skintones as such shades really look great on our warm Indian complexions. This would be an apt shade for festivities, bridal wear, evening outs and for the fall season in general. The lipstick has soft, sweet, fruity fragrance which fades out within a few minutes post application.

Texture-wise this lipstick is a dream to apply. It glides on the lips like butter, it’s sooooppppprrrr moisturizing, can be layered on without any goopy feel, sticky feeling and is very hydrating. No lipbalm is required underneath this lippie as it leaves the lips feeling soft and moisturised even after the colour fades off. In spite of being so moisturizing the lippie feels light and balmy on the lips. The bullet is pretty sturdy and is not prone to breaking as is generally common with creamy, moisturizing lipsticks.

Pigmentation of the lipstick is pretty good. With one swipe we get a decent amount of colour on the lips and with two swipes we can achieve a full coverage. It makes the lips look plump and luscious by eliminating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It stays put for 4 – 5 hours with light snacking and a few drinks in between. Being a dark colour it stains the lip quite strongly and the stain lasts for a very long time and can only be removed with a makeup remover. Thus the 10 hour claim is somewhat true. The issue that I face the most with this lippie is that being a creamy shade it transfers crazily to cups, glasses and straws and can end up being quite embarrassing at times. So, I suggest blotting the lips with a tissue post application to remove the excess from the lips.

Cons of Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick 36 Pourpre Jazzy:

  • Transfers crazily for the first few hours post application.
  • The packaging should be sealed properly
  • Price is a bit steep for a drugstore brand as there are many brands offering such lipsticks at a much lower price point.

Yes, this shade is highly recommended to all the brides and also to girls looking for dark shades in general as this is one colour that would look good on all skintones.

  1. Really very moisturising but didn’t have good staying power. I own shade no. 05 and it dont even leave any tint behind with very light snacking. U have picked pretty shade.

    1. That’s d problem with the lighter shades, they hardly leave any tint behind…. I can totally correlate with u bcoz I have that shade and I face the same problem 🙁

  2. Omg such a beautiful and pigmented shade. But, I am not into lipsticks which transfer to everything. 🙁

    1. Shikha if u really like the shade then maybe u cud go for Rimmel Cutting Edge..it’s a similar shade, transfers less and is a wayyyy cheaper alternative. 🙂
