Brihans’ Green Leaf Aloe Vera Gel

Hello Everyone!

This is my very first post for IMBB and I am oh so excited. Green Leaf gel is an ayurvedic product. I have been using it for quite some time, so I thought this should be my first post for the blog. It contains 90% w/w Aloe Vera, which means it is as good as using the plant itself. I have an oily skin and thanks to the heat and pollution, a zit is never too far away. Sun makes my skin go red while this gel soothes the skin and carrying this with me saves me a lot of trouble.

Brihan's Green Leaf Aloe Gel

As you can see, the gel inside the bottle looks green in colour, but it is not highly pigmented.

Second

When you take it out, it appears rather colourless. I have tried other Aloe Vera gels available in the market and I don’t like that they have strong fragrance. This gel has a very mild herbal kind of smell, which doesn’t linger for a long while.

Third

What the Gel Claims:

Meant for acne, rash, minor skin eruptions, sunburn, minor cuts, wounds and allergies.

My Experience with Brihan’s Aloe Vera Gel:

I am talking from personal experience, the gel does all that it claims and a lot more! You can use it at night on your eyes and in few days, you’ll notice the dark circles are fading. I am a night owl and dark circles are constant companions/enemies. If you have an oily skin like me, you can use it instead of a lotion for moisturizing, but it is not sufficient for winters. If your skin is tanned, you can use it and the skin tone will become lighter, but don’t expect it in a day. Cooling sensation of the gel makes it ideal for use in the heat!

Cost:

Rs. 75 for 125 g bottle (it has a shelf life of 3 years.)

Where Can You Get It:

I get it from a shop which stocks cosmetics, but you can also get it from a shop, which sells medicine. It is hard to find it in the bigger stores.

Pros:

  • Great value for money.
  • It has multiple uses, so it will never go waste sitting on the shelf!
  • Suitable for all the skin types.

Cons:

Don’t use too much of the gel, it has a bitter taste which sort of seeps through the skin.

Will I Buy It Again:

Yes!!!!

Hi Maansi. Thanks for the review. I am a big fan of Aloe Vera gels and am using the Apollo B+ aloe vera gel (has replaced my Oil of Olay moisturuzer for now). I picked it up since the Apollo Pharmacy guys had come to office and I got it at a discount for 58 bucks. Would you know if there is a vast difference bet the 2 – benefits wise that is? I am ok with the smell as of now. I read Jomol’s review where she had reviewed Nature’s essence and made some references to Brihan’s..so would you or anyone be able to tell me whether I should stick to the current one or if I should seriously try for Brihan’s or Nature’s Essence?

Thanks in advance. I do have a H&G close by so should not be a big deal if I have to change the brand.

I have used both and find Brihans far superior to Apollo B+ Gel

Hey Aruna,
I like Brihans better.I have used the Aloe Vera gel by Nature’s and it has a very heady smell and even the results were not as good and the quantity was also less.Apollo’s gel from what I remember had a smell which reminded me of hospitals, so I didn’t buy it again:|

I use it as a moisturizer every single day! I dont use any other cream for the fear of breaking out into more zits… So thats my daily cream….But I am not too sure if it really does something to my skin…probably I have used it too long to notice anything…like, 4 yrs I guess….

I’ve heard that one should not use low Vera Gel & go out in the sun. Is that true?

Reply

Maansi August 23, 2011 at 12:47 pm

I don’t think it is. I have used the real aloe vera leaves too, they yield great results in case of tanning but they dry out after 10 mins and you just have to wash them off but in the gel form, it is as good as any other lotion, so you can put it on and forget about it:)

A friend of mine ends up with sun rashes every now and then and the only gel(she switched 2-3 dermatologists who were no help) she claims that helped her is the brihans aloe vera gel. I’ve been using it too! Excellent to reduce acne!! :yahoo:
But its no help in reducing old acne scars :struggle:
