How are you doing today? We are experiencing chilly weather around which seems like a blessing in disguise. Blessing in the sense that my oily skin becomes dry and less problematic; I hate putting on extra pounds baking those yummy and heavenly winter treats though. 😛 Anyway, my winter shopping is in progress and I bring you a beautiful plum kohl pencil from Burberry. So let’s read more about Burberry Effortless Blendable Kohl Pencil – Elderberry No 5!

My Experience with Burberry Elderberry No 5 Effortless Blendable Kohl:

The kohl pencil comes in similar wooden, sharpenable pencil packaging with a sharpener and safety tight fit cap as well, thankfully. Over all quite travel friendly & user friendly product. Talking about my shade “Elderberry No 5”, it seems to be a deep yet soft plum shade to me which comes up purplish plum on my eyes. I need at least 3-4 generous swipes of this plum to come up intense on my waterline while it gives perfect plum color payoff on my upper and lower lash line. Unlike the black shade, I am not much impressed with this color because it is way softer than what I was expecting in terms of finish & pigmentation.

It might work well when used as an eyeshadow base or an eyeliner on upper eye lashes though as I see it come up way intense on my skin than on waterline somehow. However my prime purpose was to get a perfect wintery plum kohl liner, hence I feel slightly disappointed because I never get that perfect plum look. The first two swipes seem to get disappeared on waterline while generous multiple swipes make it look more blackish than plum, to my dislike. But it comes up way intense on my upper eyelids and stays put for good 5-6 hours even on my oily skin.

Moreover it is bit impressive to see that the product never smudges on its own or transfers onto my under eye area even after several hours. It might fade after few hours but it won’t transfer or feather around my skin luckily. And the formula of the pencil is very creamy yet stiff to give a smooth, creamy finish along my waterline or eye lids without tugging. I never feel any itching or stinging nor does it ever aggravate vision issues. It comes off easily with any soapy solution while it manages to stay put even after rinsing face with water.

The only disappointing part for me is the shade & its color pay off which seems too light for my desired look. But I will definitely recommend this multi-use crayon to every gal as it works perfect in every aspect. I might get it again if I ever master the art of eye makeup, till then I am still searching a perfect plum kohl liner.

Pros of Burberry Elderberry No 5 Effortless Blendable Kohl:

• A creamy, easily blendable, multi-use soft plum kohl pencil
• It is way soft on our sensitive eyes, glides effortlessly along the waterline without tugging or pulling
• It does not sting or cause any itching
• Two generous strokes of this pencil give buildable color payoff on my eyelids while it might need few more gentle strokes on waterline
• It is easily blendable as an eyeshadow base
• It does not smudge or transfer even after several hours while it might fade a bit
• It does not irritate or aggravate any issues even after several hours of wear time
• It is creamy and soft
• Quite user friendly, sharpenable pencil crayon

Cons of Burberry Elderberry No 5 Effortless Blendable Kohl:

• It does not come up as intensely as desired on my waterline
• Multiple swipes might darken the shade to blackish hue than plum, to my dislike
• It tends to fade quickly from the outer corners of my eyes
• It is not the most intense plum shade I have tried so far
• Pricey

Well considering its multi-uses, I do feel it’s a price worthy deal. But considering its lighter finish, I feel we have better plums in the market. Particularly I was looking for a plum kohl liner and this disappointed me a bit, hence I won’t recommend it for lining or defining your waterline; it will work well for other purpose.
