Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream Review

Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream Review

Hey Y’all,

I’m so excited that Delhi residents will be able to get their hands on some Burt’s Bees products at Sephora now! Burt’s Bees is one of the world’s leading natural cosmetics companies and has always been committed to using the safest ingredients. I have tried several of their products and have loved some more than others. Their Radiance Eye Cream is a long-time favorite of mine. As part of their Radiance line, Burt’s Bees also offers a night cream and a day cream. I will be reviewing the latter today.

Product Description:

According to Burt’s Bees, this cream is “infused with Royal Jelly, one of nature’s most powerful nutrients” and it “moisturizes, helps enhance your skin’s radiance and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Resulting in naturally radiant, younger-looking skin.”

Burt's Bees Radiance Day Cream

Royal Jelly is a substance that’s secreted from the glands in the heads of male workers bees and is fed to the queen bee (sorry, if that got a little too graphic!). The “jelly” is super rich in nutrients like Amino Acids, Vitamins B1, B2, B5, B6, C and E, Biotin, Niacin and Folic Acid. This nutrient-rich jelly is supposed to be the reason why the queen bee grows to be stronger and live longer than other bees. It’s often added to beauty products and is presumed to have anti-aging properties.  Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream is packaged in a glass jar, which is great because plastic can be a major source of phthalates. The box it comes in is yellow and bright, a staple for all Burt’s Bees products.

My Experience with Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream:

I have combination skin, dry in certain places and oily in others (for instance, my nose!). I’m also prone to breakouts. I bought this primarily because I was looking for a cheap, natural moisturizer that I could alternate with another cream that I use. The first thing that I noticed about the cream was its light texture. Although it’s called a “cream,” its texture is more like a thick lotion. I patted in on my face and my skin literally absorbed it within seconds. Overall, my skin was smooth to the touch and glowing and not greasy or oily at all. I was also very pleased with the fact that this didn’t break me out.

Burt's Bees Radiance Day Cream 3

This cream does a good job of controlling oil all day, but it’s just not hydrating enough for dry patches. I find myself reapplying cream on several parts of my face through the day. Also, it has one of the worst fragrances I’ve ever smelled in a beauty product.

Burt's Bees Radiance Day Cream 4

It’s overpowering and since the cream sits on my face, I smell it for a while after application. To me, the smell is reminiscent of anti-lice medications I was forced to put in my hair as a child. If you guys have smelled those (I think it was Lycil),you’ll know what I’m talking about!

Burt's Bees Radiance Day Cream 5

I think this cream will work best for people with normal or oily skin types. This is the first cream I’ve used that gives a glow to the skin and mattifies it at the same time, which is pretty awesome.

Pros of Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream:

  • Light texture. The cream absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t feel heavy on the face at all.
  • No harmful ingredients. The cream is formulated without Sulphates, Parabens, Phthalates or Petrochemicals.
  • Controls oil. Stops skin from getting super-oily throughout the day.
  • A little goes a looong way.
  • Doesn’t cause breakouts.
  • Glowing skin. As the name promises, it does make the skin appear more “radiant.”
  • Fair price.  Not the cheapest face cream on the market, but it isn’t really expensive for a natural cream.

Cons of Burt’s Bees Radiance Day Cream:

  • Doesn’t hydrate too well. I wouldn’t recommend this to people with dry skin or those who tend to get dry patches.
  • The smell. I can get past it now, but it took some time for me to get used to it.

Bottom Line:

If you have normal or oily skin and are looking for an effective natural cream get this. Dry skinned beauties stay away. As for me, I’ll either use this as hand cream now or save it for the summer when my skin doesn’t get as dry.
