Pink Lip Gloss/Lipstick Shade: Show and Ask

L’Oreal Glam Bronze Sun Radiance Trio

Happy girls are the prettiest and aren’t we IMBBians a bunch of them? Girlies, today I’m going to review a really beautiful product from L’Oreal.

Now, I really can’t promise about the availability all over because I picked this up at Dubai duty free. I was about to leave Dubai after a short vacation and I was in complete frenzy to finish off whatever dirham’s and dollars I had exchanged.  So, I saw this bronzer from L’Oreal and was instantly impressed so much that by the time I got on plane, I opened it! Anyway, Glam Bronze Trio comes in 2 variants: for Blondes and Brunettes. I picked up the one for blondes just because I’m fair skinned and the Brunette one seemed “orangier” for my complexion.

Packaging:

Stunning, round compact case which has an extra compartment underneath for the brush which is also very functional, soft and good quality. There also a mirror. So, this is really a good product on the go.

Ingredients:

Colour:

Three colours placed in like stripes, it’s more of a bronzer, but I don’t use it for contouring the cheeks as it really catches a lot of light. It is highly reflective. The colours are bronze, pink and a beige-pale kind of shade. These can also be used as eyeshadows.

Texture:

Extremely smooth, satiny texture. Its tiny reflective particles just bring an instant glow to the face. The pink colour is just brilliant. I apply it on the apples of my cheeks and so many people have complemented me with the “wow, you are glowing!” comment and I go “yeah, its L’Oreal, not love.”

So, the gist is if you ever find this product, lay your hands on it. Just pick it up because it is a kind of a product that requires less effort and gives brilliant effect.

There is also L’Oreal bronzer duo, you can check out those as well, but my heart melted at this one.

Waxing Vs Shaving

Since time immemorial, I have been told by beauticians, agony aunts and all other members of the fairer sex about how we must always give shaving a no-no. Chief propagators of this belief have been the local beauty parlour aunties, and somehow all of us seem to overlook the fact that this could very well be stemming from their obvious need to maintain a market for waxing. What’s the mechanism behind shaving being bad in any way?

I’ve been getting myself waxed since years, and today I come out of the closet, I hate it. I hate the way I must visit a parlour to get it done, the way I have to expose myself to a stranger, who more often than not will try to make small talk by commenting on my skin or “growth” and then ask me “last time kab karwayi thi aapne waxing”, the way it feels, hot, messy and sticky, the way it hurts, the way it takes hours, and of course the way I must stay hairy for the other half of the month in order to be able to endure all of that again! On the other hand, I have the option of shaving, that I can do at my home, in my own privacy, without having anyone scrutinize and judge me on my freaking hair growth(!), in the comfort of my own bedroom, without any chip-chip , without any pain, within 10 minutes, and be hairless every goddamned day of my life! Shaving is such a winner!

Except, it has a few cons of its own, some real, some made-up:

1. Your skin might itch after shaving. (which goes equally true for waxing) For this, make sure you shave a moisturised, exfoliated skin to begin with. Stretch it with your hands when you start to shave. Shaving creams are available. or you could use your conditioner! After shaving, apply a cooling substance, like aloe vera gel or any other water based gel moisturiser, or if you have an after shave for women, perfect.

2. You will have to shave every other day or so. But ladies this is NOT because your hair growth increases, or your hair grows back coarser, it’s simply because while shaving what you’re really doing is trimming very close to the skin, so the hair growth continues under the cut end (unlike waxing, where you pull out the hair from its root and thus even though it is growing back, it is still under the surface of your skin for sometime). And plus it’s a 10 minute job, you could practically do it in your shower.

3. If you allow a stubble to grow back, it might feel coarse. This is because while shaving, you cut the hair shaft perpendicular to its length, and at a sharp angle, thus the cut tip feels a little coarse. This is NOT because your hair is growing back coarse. It’s still the same hair that is growing out, the new hair hasn’t even come in the picture. Whereas in waxing, every time you pull out the hair strand, a new one grows from the root, thus having a tapered tip. Also because not all of them will grow back together, the frequency of hair you feel at that point is lower. Take a look at the figure below.

Another possible limitation is the area of usage, for both shaving and waxing. Just like you can wax your bikini area but you might prefer not to because it would hurt too much, you might not want to shave your arms as it is not very feasible (hard to reach all parts, stubble). And on the same lines, it might be best for you to shave your bikini area, and wax your arms. But to each his own. And beware of the infamous razor burn! (refer to point no.1 above)

I have been shaving my legs and my underarms for a couple of weeks now, and I’m really happy with the decision. It started with an emergency call and I shudder at the thoughts of going back to waxing now :s Maybe if I need to go on a vacation. In any case, I will always keep a razor with me (bless its soul). Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet L’Exuberante

I have reviewed 3 lip colors from the same range before : La Ravissante, La Raffinee, La Fascinate Now I sooooo loved these lipsticks that I went ahead and bought the full size tube.

Price : Rs 2000

L’Exuberante 37 is a gorgeous (almost neonish) hot pink color. I only have good things to say about the lipstick :

• completely matte.
• very pigmented.
• non drying neither moisturizing.
• stays on for good 6 + hours.
• Creamy but not slippery.
• does not accentuate the fine lines of the lips but if your lips are chapped, it may looks really bad on lips.
• no taste.
• feels very light on lips.
• the color would work for most skin tones. It is not for everyone but if you like bright lip colors, you do have to give this a shot.
• You can wear this color as a stain and it adds that freshness to the face. Or as a full on hot pink pout to make a statement. You won’t be disappointed either ways.
• does not transfer

Angelina Jolie’s Right Leg at 2012 Oscars: Makeup and Fashion Goof Up

I have never missed a single Oscars ceremony telecast in these past years, but this year I missed it and do I regret, hell yes, tremendously.  An entity called “Angelina’s right leg” was born on this day, how could I miss it?  Angelina Jolie wore a black Atelier Versace ball gown dress for the ceremony where it seemed that she was forcefully thrusting her right leg forward.  It was quite an odd pose and created a furore online and offline.  2012 Oscars happened way back on February 26th, but the famous “right leg syndrome” refuses to die down.  Everyone worth her salt wants to put forth her right leg through the thigh high split, be it Karisma Kapoor in a red gown on Dangerous Ishq’s promotion posters or more recently Frieda Pinto walking the red carpet at Cannes 2012 Festival.  Jai ho Angie’s right leg!!  What do you think about her right leg?  Take a look at the video (there are odd sounds in the background, that might be the person who captured it and uploaded on youtube).  Do comment and share

Fab India Aloe and Cucumber Gel Face Pack

After being fascinated by the concept of gel scrubs, the new entry in my favourite list is the gel face packs. This definitely sounds interesting.  It has some properties which our conventional cream-based or mud packs lack. I always prefer something that is made up of organic and natural ingredients, so that I just do not end up torturing rather than pampering my skin with harsh chemicals. This gel pack though has some chemical ingredients, but definitely not the scary ones.

Today, I will be reviewing a face pack that can be very soothing and relaxing, especially in this scorching heat. Most of us do not feel like stepping out in this hot weather, but we would have to, there is no other go.  So, this gel pack can compensate your skin’s damage from being under the harshness of the sun to a great extent.

Product Description:

Made with aloe vera and cucumber extract, this gel face pack gives a cooling and soothing effect. It keeps the skin healthy and protects it from the environmental damages.

Ingredients:

Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, Carbopol 940, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Propyl Paraben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Aloe Vera Extract, Cucumber Extract, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Methyl Paraben
Directions for use: Avoiding the eye area, apply the pack and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water and pat dry.

225 INR for 100 ml.

Shelf Life:

3 years.

Packaging:

Comes in a traditional Fab India tub packaging with screw cover. A white lid inside the screw cap placed on the neck of the tub prevents the gel from leaking out and thus makes it travel friendly.

My Experience with Fab India Aloe and Cucumber Gel Face Pack:

I was head over heels in love with my “Fab India Neem and Tulsi Face and Body Gel Scrub” and was totally mesmerized by the concept of this gel thing.  On my recent visit to the Fab India store, another gel product caught my attention and that was this gel face pack. I was pretty happy with the scrub, so I thought of giving this gel face pack a try and thus bought it without thinking again. As soon as I came home, the first thing I did was to wash my face and then apply the gel face pack out of curiosity as I have never used a gel version of any face pack.

As soon as I opened the lid of the jar, a smell similar to after-shave lotions hit my nose and I was like “have I done a mistake?” But then, I decided not to be so judgemental without using the product. I applied it all over my face and let it dry for 10 minutes as per the instructions given. After drying, I felt my skin was firm and smooth with a healthy glow. Though the glow did not last longer than a day, but it made my skin feel fresh. The gel pack gave a soothing feel to my face from all the heat and gave a lively freshness. The face pack is an aqua blue-colored gel with neither too thick nor runny consistency. A coin-sized amount is sufficient for the whole face. When applied, it does not show the color on the skin. It spreads as a transparent film.

Pros of Fab India Aloe and Cucumber Gel Face Pack:

• Refreshing smell.
• Extracts of Aloe Vera and Cucumber.
• Only a little amount is required for every application.
• A single tub lasts for months.
• Not tested on animals.

Cons of Fab India Aloe and Cucumber Gel Face Pack:

• Contains parabens and urea.

Finally, I would like to say that this can be a great after-sun mask. Please do not expect it to do miracles on your skin like improving the complexion, tan removal, and making the skin texture smooth. It has effects but they are temporary, works excellently in soothing skin.

My Take on Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum:

Okay, now on to the review. This eyeliner pen has a felt tip and the first time that I used this eyeliner, I got such a thin and crisp line. I was like “wow! This is so easy to use.”  I have previously tried to use a MAC liquid liner on many occasions, but its fat tip always gave me a horribly unequal and big line :-/

The casing of this eyeliner is metal like, kind of a pen, which makes it so hard to click clear pictures because it would keep on reflecting light. But these are the best pics that I could come up with.  Also, the pen is sturdy and closes tightly, so it prevents the product from drying off.

So when I brought myself to use this pen, it always seemed so easy to use and gave me good colour in a single swipe. I didn’t have to go over it again and again to bring out that intense black colour. I was even able to line my sister’s eyes well with this because it gave such thin lines.

As you can see, the tip is very long, but along with that, it is also firm and does not go all over the place while using.  Since its long, it allows for an easier application. The colour that I have is ultra black and true to its name, it is really black. The only issue that I have is that the black colour is glossy. I personally prefer using matte kind of eyeliner, it gives a more intense look. But this is perfect for day wear when you can use it to create crisp lines.

Coming onto the serum part. I think it helped my lashes appear longer after using it regularly for about 2 weeks, but after that, I discontinued using it every day and used my gel liner and Lotus eyeliner alternatively, so I have not been able to see any prominent results, but now, I have started using it every day again, so that I am able to comment on the eyelash boosting part. But if used regularly for a long time, it will definitely show results.

The eyeliner is definitely smudge proof till the time you don’t wet your face and try rubbing it off. Once it dries, it does not come off even on rubbing it very hard.  Also, its waterproof, but if you rub your face while washing, it comes off very easily, but stays put if you don’t rub your eyes with wet hands.

Swatch after rubbing my hand hard enough for the skin to hurt :-/ and after using lotion on my hands. As you can see, the line has not faded away much, rather is still present. So, it’s a definite thumbs up on the smudge resistant fact. Also, one thing that I have noted is that if you keep it in air for a long time, it tends to dry up. So, you’ll have to close the cap for some time so that the tip gets the product again.

As with all liquid liners, it should not be used on the waterline as it may hurt your eyes. Its perfect if you are on the look out for an easy-to-use liner which can give you crisp thin lines and this was the eyeliner that I used in my Physicians Formula wet/dry baked eyeshadow review.  If you can get your hands on it, then go for it. Its amazing!

Hope you are all doing good.  By this time, you would have realised my love for the lovely eye palettes. Yes, I am so obsessed and I love it.  As you know, Sigma Beauty have released their new Limited Edition Paris Palette.

I had a beauty certificate from Sigma and so when I saw the palette retailing for 10 % off on the site, I quickly ordered.  It reached me the 5th working day from the date of order.

Paris is one of my favourite places and so I was so excited to get this palette.

Also, there were many great things about this wonderful palette.  The colors in this palette are inspired by the landmark monuments and locations in Paris.  The Paris Project is the perfect combination of talent, art and tradition.  Seven renowned beauty experts (Tiffany D, Xteeener, DulceCandy87, Xsparkage, Frmheadtotoe, Petrilude and MacNC40) explored the City of Lights and developed an original makeup palette inspired by the alluring city of Paris.

What Sigma Beauty claim about Paris Palette:

The Limited Edition Paris Makeup Palette includes eight eye shadow colors inspired by landmark monuments and locations in Paris. It also includes two blush colors and one highlight shade, carefully developed to complement all skin tones. The palette comes with two essential brushes for a flawless makeup application.

My Opinion on Sigma Limited Edition Paris Palette:

As you can see from the swatches, all the shades are dark with sparkles and shimmers.  A booklet featuring the beauty gurus also came with the palette.  The palette comes with 8 eye shadows, 2 blushes, highlighter and 2 brushes.  The palette itself has a good cardboard packing and it has a large mirror.  Each eye shadow shade is a contribution from the make up gurus.

Shade Details:

• EIFFEL – Jet black with multicoloured sparkles. Developed by Tiffany (MakeupbyTiffanyD).
• SEINE – Pearled midnight blue with shimmer, has a satin finish. Developed collaboratively by all gurus.
• LOUVRE – Saturated, deep turquoise blue; Developed by Josh (Petrilude).
• ORSDAY – Bright, vibrant turquoise with gold sparkle ; Developed by Suzy (MacNC40) = My favourite shade from the palette.
• ELYSEES – Rich burgundy with gold shimmer, has a satin finish. Developed by Dulce (DulceCandy87).
• NOTRE DAME – Plum taupe with shimmer and flecks of gold .metallic finish; Developed by Christine (xteeener).

This is a limited edition palette and it is a great gift  I really liked the blush shades and they would suit every skin tone Shadows are long wearable; I actually wore Orsay and its my favourite shade.

This is a perfect palette for those who travel a lot, as well as for those who need eye shadows, blush, and highlighter together in a palette

But, I think as I have both the Naked palettes; I don’t need neutral shades.  If you like dark shades which has shimmers and sparkles without any fallout, then you will like this palette.

No other cons as such.

Fade Out Extra Care Fade Cream – Day

There’s a story behind this product too.  This is allegedly a “scar removal” formula.  I first came to know about this cream through my sister.  One of my sister’s relatives (a young catholic priest) suffered from chicken pox and was very worried about the scars on his face.  He called up my sister and proclaimed this as a “miracle” product.  My sister had also suffered from chicken pox and she too wanted to get rid of the scars on her body.  She got two tubs of Fade Out Active cream through ebay from an UK seller.  When I came to know about “Fade Out,” I checked online whether I could get it locally.  To my surprise, I did find it on an online website and got it delivered.  Here’s the review for “Fade Out Day Cream.”

My Take on Fade Out Extra Care Fade Cream – Day:

There are around 5 variants available of this cream.  I picked up the Fade Out Extra Care Day Cream because I know I would never be punctual applying anything at night.  This cream comes in a very heavy tub and there’s a lot of product in the tub.  The cream smells very “ointmenty” and medicinal.  I tried to apply it in a little quantity during day time, but it is  super greasy and my face started sweating moments after application.  I decided to use this at night instead of strutting around with a greasy face.

During the night time, I applied it on a clean face and went off to bed.  In the morning, I woke up with a smooth facial skin.  Though visibly, there wasn’t any glow or brightness or scar reduction, I could feel an effect similar to “microdermabrasion.”  Though my sister and my sister’s relative did see reduction in chicken pox scars, I could not see much difference on my acne scars.

There is one issue that bothers me and that is, both of them got their pieces from abroad, my sister from UK and her relative from Dubai, whereas I got my online, so I am thinking whether I got an equally effective piece or not.

These two people vouch for this cream, but I do not actually.  I could “feel” the smoothness after using it for a while, but I actually wanted the acne scars to vanish, and that didn’t happen.

But, I continue using it at night whenever I feel my skin needs “microdermabrasion” kind of thing, and it works!

• Makes skin smooth after overnight application.
• Claims to have zyalight formula, which is supposed to help pigmentation marks.
• People vouch that it works on chicken pox marks.

Cons of Fade Out Extra Care Fade Cream – Day:

• This is a day cream, but it makes facial skin extremely greasy and is thus unsuitable for day time use.
• Does not work that effectively on acne marks, and I am surprised since it works on chicken pox scars.
• Smells strongly of ointment.

Will I Recommend Fade Out Extra Care Fade Cream – Day?

It does give a smooth skin; however, I would suggest to try night cream because it is not suitable to be worn during day time.

Will I Repurchase Fade Out Extra Care Fade Cream – Day?
