Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick – Silk Pixation Review

Hey there!

My mother has this aversion to shopping for makeup, but yet adores “natural looking makeup.” So for mom to get that look, I get the dubious honour of being her personal shopper. Alas! The tragedies of being a fairly good daughter. *sigh*  Anyway, I will spare you the soliloquy and make a move towards the review.

On one of my numerous trips to the mall, I saw a few Chambor (How does one pronounce this??) products on sale at New U. Obviously, the first thing I did was head over to the makeup counter and swatch these like crazy, but sadly, they didn’t really have any “pops of colour, so to speak.  Very subtle and understated products seemed to be the only ones available. I then called up my mom and asked her if she wanted some stuff. She just told me to decide what will suit her, and signed off without so much as a goodbye.

Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick - Silk Pixation 2

Oh well! *sigh* I then undertook the arduous task and zeroed in on two lipsticks which I thought would suit her. This may just be the perfect MLBB shade, for many dusky beauties.

Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick - Silk Pixation 4

Packaging:

This is a travel-friendly navy tube of lipstick that closes with a satisfying snap. It is very elegant with a no clutter approach when it comes to the actual casing, with just the Chambor logo (a rose) placed strategically. Once you uncap the tube, one sees the lip colour and “Chambor” emblazoned across the silver part. The lip color itself is shaped a little oddly. Almost like it’s cupping the lip during application, but I am sure it will even out in a few uses.

My Take on Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick – Silk Pixation:

The colour is a gorgeous brown-ish nude lipstick that I adore! This, layered with a peach gloss is the perfect accompaniment to a smokey eye. It is also a perfect subtle daytime lipstick for office goers.  My mother isn’t particularly happy with this colour, she thinks it makes her look sallow and slightly haggard. I think that she’s over thinking it, but when does she ever listen to me *sigh*.

Nevertheless, the lipstick lasts a good 2-3 hours and fades evenly. No matter how much you layer it, the lipstick never feels heavy and doesn’t settle into fine lines or bleed either. Seeing as it’s from the Silk Touch range, it is particularly moisturising and gives the lips a “wet look”. Hence, it isn’t necessary to top it off with a gloss.

It smells like vanilla, but the scent disappears in a minute or two, and isn’t overpowering.

Pros of Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick – Silk Pixation:

  • Sturdy, travel safe packaging.
  • MLBB shade for dusky beauties.
  • Moisturizing, so much so, that a lip balm isn’t required.
  • Fades evenly.
  • Pigmented shade.
  • Claims to have SPF.
  • Does not settle into fine lines or bleed.
  • Smells divine.
  • Easily available in India.
  • Gives a subtle sheen.

Cons of Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick – Silk Pixation:

  • Presence of many chemicals.
  • Staying power could be improved.
  • Presence of only sober colours, a few pops would have been awesome.
  • Expensive.
  • Transfers easily.
  • Hard to locate the shade you want, while rummaging in your vanity.
  • Anti-aging claim is next to impossible to verify.
  • The actual bullet is a little oddly shaped, and makes application a hassle.

Will I Repurchase Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick – Silk Pixation?

Maybe, in another colour for mom.

Do I Recommend Chambor Silk Touch Lipstick – Silk Pixation?

Only if they are slightly “more mature,” I am a firm believer in experimentation and this range is a little too staid for me to be completely satisfied.
