Today, I will be reviewing a lip gloss, namely, the Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in #57 Insolence.  I had bought this and two lipsticks when I was travelling to Australia a year ago. I was at the Airport and saw the makeup counters and was like, “Duty free, here I come.” After about 45 minutes of attacking the counters, 3 products emerged victorious from the Chanel counter. So, I ended up buying this beautiful lip gloss in the color “Insolence” and two other lipsticks (that I’ll be reviewing soon 😛 ). Let’s dive into the review.

Since I bought it off duty free, I paid a different price, so I’m just stating the price as per the website.

My Experience with Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss -#57 Insolence:

Oh my God, where do I start?! From the moment I swatched this on the back of my hand – it was love. This is such a beautiful lip gloss.  It’s a very flattering cool-toned pink colour. Since I have warmer undertones in my skin, I was surprised that this lip gloss suited me so well. I think it would look good on almost any skin tone. I think that it’s a very flattering, generic pink colour; almost reminds me of a Barbie pink. Like you know, the typical girly pink colour that comes to mind when you say “pink’? yeah – THAT colour.  The color payoff is very good, but a little goes a long way for me and you can use it sparingly for a more sheer pink look.

There’s definitely more colour pay off when compared to any other lip gloss. The gloss doesn’t feel sticky on my lips, but does have a “gloss” type feel to it. It looks very glossy, with a very smooth texture. There’s no visible shimmer in the lip gloss, but if you see very closely, there are some extremely miniscule shimmer particles in the lip gloss, that are barely captured with flash photography.

The lip gloss lasts an average of about 4 hours, if I’m not eating/drinking frequently, but yes, it does longer than your average lip gloss. Lastly, how could we forget the packaging? The lip gloss comes in a sleek black, shiny tube. It’s a little heavier than other lip glosses, but honestly, to me, it just adds to the luxurious feel of the product. At the top of the lip gloss, the Chanel emblem is embossed in gold and it’s beautiful. It has a faint floral fragrance, but when you apply it, it’s barely noticeable. All in all, the entire product screams luxury. It’s a pretty expensive product but then again, it is a high-quality product.

• Highly glossy.
• Good colour pay off.
• Smooth texture.
• Lasts longer than most lip glosses.
• Sleek packaging.
• Not sticky.
• Suits most skin tones.

Cons of Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss -#57 Insolence:

• Very expensive.
• Can’t use in place of lipstick (colour pay off isn’t THAT good).
• Tested on animals.
• Easily transferred.

Would I Repurchase Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss -#57 Insolence?

No, I wouldn’t repurchase this product. Even though I absolutely love it, I think that it is too pricey for a repurchase. I doubt I’ll be running out of this anytime soon.

Would I Recommend Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss -#57 Insolence?

Yes, if you are willing to indulge in a more expensive but high quality. Also, it’s a very flattering pink. I wouldn’t call this product a “must-have,” but it’s a good addition to your collection.
