Ask IMBB Gang

Amel Asks:

I wanted to ask you how do we go on about choosing the colors for the eyeshadow and complementary eyeliner for a particular color of dress. For eg. i am planning to wear a golden beige and maroon dress /and golden and beige dress the next day to a wedding and haldi function resp. which is a night function so what color eyeshadow and eyeliner should I wear. And please also tell me how to match eyeshadow colors with the dress color. I will be very obliged if you can help me and give a quick reply. Thank you.

I always wear the same colours of my outfit as my eye shadow. If there are multiple colours, i pick one and wear that. If not ,a neutral or a safe ‘pink’ is good for me.

Acc to me, you need to keep in mind 2 things –
Your eye colour (Your eye shadow should complement your eye colour)
Your dress colour (Your eye shadow should complement or compliment :P your dress colour)

Actually I mostly wear wither similar or contrasting colours with dress. Sometimes i match eye makeup with my lip colour.Sometimes blush with lip colour. Also , little things like if your eye makeup is bold, keep lips under stated and vice versa.

Use shimmers. Pick up MAC reflects gold glitter or Inglot Body Sparkle. they will add a lot to your makeup. :)

Hi Ame… What I would ve done is that with the maroon golden dress, I would gone with a subtle golden-black smokey eye look and dress up my lips with a maroon/reddish shade of lipstick…
For the beige-golden dress, I would have dressed up my eyes with a bright color say emerald green or purple shadow complimented with golden shadow and let the lips remain nude with a nude lipgloss…

Both the looks would look different and hence show-off your make-up skills ;)

I do not co-ordinate my dress colour with my eyeshadows….guess this is coz I ues very subtle shades & less pigmented colours……Also, I use universals like browns, greys, gold which go with everything

I try to keep eye makeup warm toned if wearing gold, earthy, traditional toned outfit.
I had recently packed MAC Goldmine, Folie, Cork, Espresso, Cranberry when packing for a wedding

Matching your dress with your makeup is a big No for me! I always make sure that my makeup colors suit my face and enhance my features. A little tinge of dress color can be used but not too much.

Definitely agree with Ayesha – matching makeup full on is a full on NO .. like red lipstick with a red dress make you look like a bulls eye or something ….. So with something red and gold – black with gold accented smokey eyed makeup with a nice nudey lip – esp coz red and maroon are such strong colors !

You need to show of your face not turn it into an extension of your dress no :-P

It’s a chiffon piece, completely black with teal colored embroidery and a net pallu … I was thinking maybe I should go for the safest smokey eyed look in black or maybe jade green or something … any suggestions? please help :struggle:
