Over the weekend, I had to attend an anniversary party with my parents and I was rummaging through my mother’s makeup stash when I found this gorgeous striking colour.

My Take on Christian Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick – Purple Sultan Satin 996:

My mother purchased this on one of our recent trips to Rome and completely forgot about the colour, it was not until I asked her if I could use it that she remembered of this particular shade.

The packaging of this lipstick is absolutely lush and luxurious. The lipstick comes in a gorgeous royal blue shade, with a glossy sheen. “CD” and Dior are embossed on the top and the front of the lipstick respectively, in striking silver.

The shade of this lipstick is a beautiful, rich plum/berry. I would say that it reminds me of a deep berry colour with blue undertones. The blue undertones in this shade easily brightens up the face and gives you whiter and brighter teeth. Like all Dior lipsticks, this too has good pigmentation. You don’t need to really struggle to achieve the colour you desire. The lipstick does not have an overpowering smell, however, it has a slightly creamy smell to it, kind of reminds me of shea butter for some odd reason. However, it has no taste to it at all. The texture of this lipstick is absolutely lovely, it is extremely creamy and glides so very smoothly on the lips. As a matter of fact, it leaves my lips feeling very moisturised and hydrated.

It did not feel heavy or uncomfortable on my lips, you definitely will be able to find the difference between drugstore lipsticks and high-end brands. Also, the lipstick does not bleed at all, you can wear it without any lip liner. However, it would be advisable to wear a lip liner, for a more polished and sophisticated look. As far as the staying power goes, the colour did not wear off much during the night. However, it slightly faded when I ate my dinner, but it was barely noticeable, but you will need to re-apply it again if you want the colour to look fresh and rich.

• Does not bleed at all, you don’t really require a lip liner with this.
• Has a strong staying power, does not fade very easily.
• Luxurious packaging, very eye catching and stands out from the rest of your lipsticks.

Cons of Christian Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick – Purple Sultan Satin 996:

• Availability is an issue, even the Dior in London did not have them. We purchased this on the airport while flying back from Rome.

Would I Repurchase Christian Dior Rouge Dior – Purple Sultan Satin 996?

Yes, once we finish this lipstick, it shall definitely be hunted down and bought again.
