Today, I would like to review for you a very effective anti-dandruff shampoo which was recommended to me by a dermatologist in Coimbatore. I had consulted her for treating my acne. She checked my scalp and asked me to clear the dandruff first as it might keep triggering breakouts. I have oily and acne-prone skin and a very dry scalp. I always wish it were the other way round:
Rs. 155 for 100 mL, available in well stocked medical shops country wide.
Ciclopirox, Zinc Pyrithione (ZPTO) and shampoo base. It also claims to have aloe vera for conditioning the hair.
Dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp. In my case, I had a very dry scalp with flakes of dry skin coming off within a couple of days of washing my hair.
How To Use:
Wet hair, apply and lather. Leave for three minutes and rinse off.
It comes in a standard white bottle with a green cap which allows you to use it till the last drop. The shampoo is a very light green liquid which is of medium consistency. It lathers well when sufficient quantity is taken, which is about twice the size of a coin for me. An easier way would be to add shampoo to a mug, dilute and then lather it up with water. You can save a lot of product this way, I feel.
My Experience with Cipla 8X Anti-Dandruff Shampoo:
I am very satisfied with this product. The doctor asked me to use it every alternate day. She instructed me to shampoo twice every time, once lightly to clean the hair and then a second time for treating the dandruff. The second time, she asked me to massage the scalp with finger tips without using the nails and then leave for at least 3 minutes. I used to leave it till I finish my bath and then rinse it off. You can use conditioner after using the shampoo if you want, but I didn’t do as I feel conditioners don’t do much for my dry, curly hair.
This is not a miracle product. It doesn’t work on the first wash itself, but I didn’t expect it to, but within two weeks of proper usage, my scalp was fully clear of dandruff. After about a month, I started reducing its usage to about twice a week and gradually to a few times in a month, using other shampoos in between.
This is a very good product for keeping dandruff at bay and I would strongly recommend it. For those who don’t have a serious dandruff problem, it would be a good habit to use this shampoo at least a few times a month.
Pros of Cipla 8X Anti-Dandruff Shampoo:
- It clears dandruff effectively, which is precisely what we want it to do.
- Effectively cures itching of the scalp.
- It is cost effective.
Cons of Cipla 8X Anti-Dandruff Shampoo:
- Tends to dry out my hair. This would vary from person to person and could probably be solved by using a good conditioner
- I feel that the cons are not significant in this case as it’s a functional, medicinal product and does what it claims.
Do I Recommend Cipla 8X Anti-Dandruff Shampoo?
Yes, please try it sincerely for a few weeks and you will surely notice a difference. I have already finished several bottles and will buy more.
Thanks a lot for reading this review, I hope you liked it and that at least a few of you would find it helpful. Take care and stay happy!
