Clinique Cheek Pop Blush – Ginger Pop

Clinique Cheek Pop Blush – Ginger Pop

Hello Lovely Ladies!

Im back with a review, with probably the most sought after product in recent time – Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in the shade GINGER pop – the one shade which has been sold out in Sephora and Nordstrom for ages. It was also sold-out in the Duty Free outlet from where I picked Plum Pop. I had to place a special order for this with someone who ships products from US at King’s ransom – ready 40-50% markup. So, was this product worth all the hype and the huge amount I paid for it?? Lets find out.

I reveiwed Plum Pop earlier and Karpagam reviewed Berry Pop earlier on.

PRODUCT (from the website):

Vibrant yet natural-looking cheek colour that looks virtually powderless. In a silky smooth, stay-true formula with shades for every skin tone. That just-pinched look, simply effortless.

How to Use
• Swirl colour onto brush and sweep over apples of cheeks.
• Gently blend colour up towards cheekbones and temple.
• Reapply to build to desired brightness.

Price:

USD $21for 3.5gms

Packaging:

The product comes packaged in neat transparent plastic with a flip open cap. It has the flower daisy embossed on it…appears absolutely stunning. Though the packaging is small enough to be dropped into the bag. However, since there is no applicator or mirror, \touch-up on the go is not an option. The transparent packaging ensures you are able to find your shade if you have more than one of these…like I do now.

However, I do feel the pan to be a little small for the brush head. I use a MAC116 blush brush.

My experience with Clinique Cheek Pop Blush – Ginger Pop:

Color – As per the Clinique site, the shade belongs to the colour group of N*des. However, to me it seemed reddish-brown peach – the shade is fairly complex and unique. It pairs well with n*des, reds, peaches and browns. It provides a good alternate to a bronzing shade (which I generally prefer when I wear reds) which may look muddy on some.

I feel this colour is universally flattering and will look pretty on a variety of skintones. There is enough peach in it that it would not look muddy on any one.

The colour is satin finish – not matte or shimmer – somethingly perfectly inbetween.

Texture – Finely milled, smooth and very blendable texture. It comes off easily on the brush or finger and applies naturally. It applies evenly, there is no patchiness. It feels creamy to the touch – though it is a powder product for sure.

Pigmentation – Good pigmentation – it allows you to go sheer or build it to the colour in the pan. One light sweep of the brush is all you need to give a natural flush. If you want to build it up to colour in pan, that is possible by layering it.

Lasting power – This is where the blush stands out against the previous shade I reviewed – Plum Pop. While Plum Pop gave me only 5-5.5hours of wear time, this gave stellar performance. The colour lasted about 7-8hours on me with minimal fading. I’m officially impressed!!!

Visibility on Skintone – The colour shows up easily. 1 swipe of the brush gives sheer colouring. If you want more, swirl the brush in the pan and then apply. Since the pigmentation is good, it shows up easily on my skin and would do so for even deeper skintones.

Pros of Clinique Cheek Pop Blush – Ginger Pop:

1. Finely milled, smooth, easily blendable.
2. Great pigmentation
3. Goes well with n*des, reds, browns and peaches
4. Lastted well over 7 hours on my oily face (with foundation)
5. The color works well for day and night both
6. The product has a nice satin finish – does not accentuate the pores
7. Did not break me out
8. Is unscented

Overall Thoughts:

I was in two minds whether to pick another shade from this selection or not coz I was not very happy with lasting power of plum pop, though happy with the colour and quality of product. I am glad that I decided to give this one another shot and found such a pretty shade with stellar performance.

    1. Same here! I had been drooling over them since they launch in US – so glad I finally managed to get my hands on them!

  1. This is a beautiful color. I kept going between this and Plum Pop but went with Plum Pop since I’m in a pink blush/lip mood lately. Looks nice on you. 🙂

  2. O’ KK, i never knew you had this one too…already i keep going back to check your YSL ESTEE lippies and keep drooling over in even day time rofl rofl well, the shade is not only gorgeous, unique but versatile too with sheer to build able color *clap* great!

    1. Actually, this is a recent buy. I placed the order last week and got it this week. Glad you liked the YSL lippies too – they too are gorgeous!!

  3. KK, does Nordstorm delivers the shipment responsibly? i have been eying the stuff but i wasn’t sure to spend bucks without some research over the website 😛 you ever hauled from them? what was your experience? Can you suggest some authentic website that delivers to Asia (Pakistan/India) because i have to buy some good stuff but high end not available in Pak easily, “social web” stores charge an atom bomb for per-ordering it and i am nit traveling internationally to get a hold on duty-free shops!

    1. I have never ordered from Nordstrom – so can’t really comment on it. But considering their repute, i would think they are safe. I have tried Str*wberrynet and Be*utyB*y. Lately, I have started ordering from a guy who has his contact travelling from US and getting what one orders. He charges huge markup – 40-50% higher but you get the stuff within a week/10 days…

  4. Nordstrom charges a kings ransom too, I just checked 🙁 and the customs Allah maufi!!! ahan me surely going to check those two becauae estee envy lippies are giving me sleepless nights haha

    1. Do check the other 2 sites – they do not charge for International shipping. However, customs may still be charged over and above…

  5. The shade, shape and texture..love it all *drool* *drool* I am gonna save up and splurge on this now *drool* *drool* love your review 🙂
