Clinique Cheek Pop Blush – Pink Pop Review

Hello everyone,

Hope you are doing well 🙂 This review will be on the last of my Clinique cheek pop blushes, this one in the shade “Pink Pop.” I had purchased 3 of these shades a while back and honestly my main reason for purchasing them was that they looked so cute and girly that I fell in love with them at first sight.  Blushes are my favorite makeup item, more so than lipstick. Hence I have quite huge expectations for my blushes and they need to ace in all departments – color, pigmentation and texture; for me to be happy with them. I had seen youtubers and beauty gurus rave about this product, but personally, this product was a huge let down for me.  Read on more to find out why.

A long-wearing, buildable cheek color that imparts a bright hue.

What it does:

Discover pure, natural cheek color that looks virtually powderless. Its unique, patented technology transforms pure liquid pigment into a smooth, silky powder through a process of slow baking, leaving true color—from compact to cheeks. This silky smooth, stay-true formula creates a vibrant, healthy-looking glow without a trace of powder residue.  Clinique Cheek Pop’s embossed gerber daisy motif embodies its fresh, modern vibe. All shades are bright yet sheer and buildable. It is 100 percent free of fragrance and ophthalmologist- and allergy-tested.

My Experience with Clinique Cheek Pop Blush – Pink Pop:

Packaging:  It’s one of the most gorgeous packaging for a makeup product, in my opinion. The blush is enchased in a clear acrylic see-through case and has a daisy imprint on it. The daisy imprint is embedded quite strongly, hence will not fade quickly, but it will eventually fade with many many uses.

Texture:  These blushes are neither powdery nor creamy. The texture is somewhere in between. It has a very smooth and thin texture. It does not kick up any powder when you dip your brush in, but they are not as emollient as a cream blush. I do enjoy the texture of these blushes.

Application:  I find the application of these blushes to be a little bit frustrating. You have to use a special kind of dense, tightly packed bristle brush to pick up enough product for application. Using a light wispy brush will not work with these blushes.  A good quality about these blushes is that they do apply evenly and do not go on patchy. They have never accentuated dryness or pores on my skin.

Pigmentation:  I was highly disappointed in this aspect.  The pigmentation of this blush and particularly the lighter colors are very poor. It needs to be built up layer by layer over and over again to get it to show up, but it never gets to the point where I am truly happy with the color on my cheeks. This quality could be a plus for those who prefer their blushes to be natural looking with a sheer wash of color, but I love my blushes to give me full color in one swipe. The proof of this is in the swatch which was applied heavy handedly.

Finish:  These blushes have a beautiful satiny finish on the cheeks. They give a slight glow without the presence of any shimmer.

Shade:  The shade “Pink Pop” is a gorgeous cool-toned pink. The color itself is beautiful but since it never truly builds up to the even half of the color you see in the pan, I am left disappointed, but I do think this color will be most flattering for those with pale to light skin tones. Those with deeper and duskier skin, should give this a skip.

Staying Power:  I am disappointed in this aspect too. The color barely stays on my skin for 4 hours before disappearing completely. If I have applied it very heavy handedly, the color might stay up to 6 hours, but never more than that.

Clinique Cheek Pink Pop Blush

Overall, even though these Clinique pop blushes are exceptionally pretty and the shade range is very good; and this could make for a great gift at an affordable price for your makeup-loving friend, I would still not recommend them especially if you are looking for a product which performs. If you have to have this, I would recommend you to only go for the deeper shades as they do seem to perform better than the lighter counterparts.

  1. The embossed daisy on the blush takes my heart away! At the clinique counter, I was ogling at these blushes, but of course, pigmentation is an issue as you have mentioned Neha 🙂

  2. Fig pop is my fav from the range. I love the way these blushes look – so gorg and lovable. Wish they had good staying power.
