Clinique Matte Beauty Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick Review

Hello beauties

Hope all of you are doing well! We are enjoying a mini vacation close to our place along with shopping. On a serious note, my hubby was supposed to work throughout the holidays and hence we shifted to his office location, but surprisingly this turned out to be a mini vacation for both of us (Aadya & mommy). Here we are away from our messy house yet feeling the warmth of home away from home. My gal and I are enjoying our shopping sprees while daddy goes to work; I wish this vacation never ends. 😛

Anyway, today I am also here to talk about my first Clinique lipstick which is a gift; courtesy : holidays. I have a soft corner for matte lip colors though I am more inclined towards creamy matte and semi-matte formula for their finish and texture. Luckily this lipstick has all the things I need in my type of matte lipstick. So let’s read more about it.

My Experience with Clinique Matte Beauty Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick:

The lipstick usually comes in metallic silver packaging while my gift came in a beautiful green bullet packaging. It does not have any specific fragrance and taste so far. I like its packaging over all. Talking about my shade “Matte Beauty”, it is a creamy matte neutral brownish pink. It can be considered our MLBB shade especially for wheatish/light complexioned beauties.

I see that the shade complements my light/pale skin very well without washing out my skin tone; it might be tricky for darker skin tones though. The texture of this shade is pretty fine which easily slips on lips though I find it slightly dry side. I mean this formula will certainly cling to dry lip patches as I do see that Matte Beauty has the tendency to slightly sit on lip lines. Hence a lip balm or a lip liner is recommended prior using this shade, especially for beauties with dry lips.

In fact I also feel the need of using a lip balm to coat this matte shade evenly. But as they claim, the shade never smudges, bleeds or feathers around lips; it might settle in lip crevices after a while though. It is an intensely pigmented shade which gives nearly full coverage in 1-2 swipes, which means it works perfectly for beauties with pigmented. However I often see that layering these creamy matte lip colors results in slightly uneven deposition on lips.

I mean it looks pretty fine in one swipe but layering often tends to accentuate dry lip lines and patches which seems tricky. It also means that it is non-hydrating or creamy, and might feel dry after few hours of wear time. Like I need re-application of lip balm after 3-4 hours of wear time while the lip color stays for as long as 5-6 hours on my lips with light meal/snacks.

It fades evenly after one heavy meal without drying my lips further. Over all I feel that I have many good creamy matte lip products in my vanity. Hence I am not willing to re-consider this lipstick. I will definitely recommend this shade and lipstick to everyone, though one must consider the price, shade and formula.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of Clinique Matte Beauty Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick:

• A creamy pink neutral shade, perfect for pale, fair and light skin tones
• It is an intensely pigmented MLBB shade for certain skin tones which gives nearly full coverage in just one swipe
• Stays for 5-6 hours without bleeding, feathering and/or accentuating dry lips
• Considering it is a creamy matte shade, it is neither hydrating nor very drying on lips
• It gives slightly creamy sheen on lips
• Quite user friendly & travel friendly packaging

Cons of Clinique Matte Beauty Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick:

• The shade feels slightly drying after few hour of wear time
• It also seems tricky for dry lips as the formula may cling to dry patches
• I do need a lip balm beneath this lip color for an even finish
• It may sit in lip lines after a while

Well I feel that there are always yays and nays for these creamy matte lip colors, hence this formula is not alone to blame. However I have tried many creamy matte lip colors before, hence I am not very impressed with this lipstick. I might give it a skip.
