Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20 Review

By Jenifer Sarkari

Hello everybody,

As winter sets in, moisturisers and creams become our saviours, especially for people like me who have dry/combination skin, which tends to dry out more as winter approaches.  My recent review on Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream clearly explains that it does not have spf, so I had picked up one more moisturiser from Clinique – this time with SPF.  A variant of this particular product, Clinique Superdefense Age Defense Moisturizer has already been reviewed by our dear Ms. Jomol. However, this one is a different variant with a different SPF factor and different formula. To know more on Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20 for skin type 1,2, please continue reading.

My Experience with Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20:

I was given Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20 in a 30 ml jar at the airport duty free as a complementary gift on buying some products from Clinique. I tried this product for a month and was very happy with the results and decided to buy one more along with the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream, which does not have SPF. From the two formulas available, I opted for the dry/combination for my skin type.

Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer

The cream feels thick to touch, but is very smooth and silky to apply, gets gradually absorbed. A little goes a long way. I usually apply Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20 after cleansing my face with a face wash. I have to wait for 5 to 10 minutes before using any makeup or compact, I think that this rule applies to most of the creams and moisturisers. Clinique superdefense daily defense moisturizer spf 20 feels thick to touch, but is not very oily or greasy, and does not result in pimples or break outs.

Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer

It stays on throughout the day and continuously keeps the skin moisturised and hydrated. It gives a bright effect and makes skin look younger. It also has SPF, UVA/UVB protection, antioxidants and factors that prevent first signs of ageing. Another advantage is that I prefer using powder compact and powder base or power foundation which stays well after applying Clinique superdefense daily defense moisturizer spf 20. In fact,  now I am able to use some of my powder compact which tends to dry out my skin tend to dry my skin as this moisturizer forms a barrier which prevents any drying or dehydration.

However, if applied alone without powder foundation or compact, the normal areas of the face feel a bit oily. Again, this one is strictly for dry to very dry and dry/combination skin types. I personally prefer using it in cool pleasant climate or when the winter starts. Clinique has a different formula for oily to oily combination, which I have not tried or tested, but the same has been reviewed by Jomol here.

Pros of Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20:

  • Suitable for dry to very dry and dry/combination skin types.
  • Smooth creamy formula moisturises and keeps skin hydrated throughout.
  • Non-greasy and non-sticky texture, not very oily.
  • SPF 20, UVA, UVB factors protects the skin.
  • Antioxidants and other superdefense factors prevents and protects skin from ageing.
  • Gives a shiny and silky look to the face.
  • Powder compact and powder-based foundation stay well on this cream and prevents the skin from dehydration.

Cons of Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20:

  • In my opinion, this product is only for very dry to dry, dry combination skin types and can be used preferable in cool pleasant climate or during winters when our skin tends to dry more and not in summers or hot sultry climate.

Do I Recommend Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20?

Yes, I recommend Clinique superdefense daily defense moisturizer spf 20 to all those who are interested. You can choose from the two formulas depending on your skin type and requirement. I have already repurchased Clinique superdefense daily defense moisturizer spf 20 as my winter moisturiser with spf.
