Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm – Two Ton Tomato

Hello Everyone,

Thank you guys for all the sweet comments on my previous review!!!  Feels great to be amongst other cosmetic junkies like me! :P  I am back again with another review.  The product I am reviewing today is “Clinique Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato.” I can already see your faces light up in excitement! :D

Clinique+Chubby+Stick+Moisturizing+Lip+Colour+Balm+Two+Ton+Tomato

I have been eyeing this product for quite a while now, but did not know that it was released in India too.  Last month, I went to The Body Shop @ 1 MG Road Mall in Bangalore to buy their deo stick, and the SA told me that they have discontinued the product! I was  disappointed to hear that :(

So, I thought I will check out Clinique as I had loads of time to kill :P I saw that they had the Clinique Chubby Sticks and all my sadness instantly vanished! :D:D

Two Ton Tomato 1

The SA was really sweet, and the white lab coat they wear makes you feel like you are talking to a dermatologist! She had me try all the colors, she was very patient and she used a cotton swab every time to apply.  So, I didn’t have to worry about the hygiene factor.  She even gave me free samples of Clinique number 4 cleanser and toner, although I am scared to try them on my super sensitive, acne-prone skin.

After a lot of dilemma, I finally zeroed in on Two Ton Tomato, its red color seemed fantastic, and let’s see whether it was a hit or miss!

Two Ton Tomato 4

As you can see, it looks like the crayons we used to use in school, and the steel-colored cap and bottom make it look very elegant.  The packaging is neat and the cap is pretty sturdy, so you don’t have to worry about it coming off while in your bag.

Product Description:

Super-nourishing balm is loaded with Mango and Shea butters. Just what dry, delicate lips need to feel comfortably soft and smooth. Sixteen natural-looking lip tints in all, each with a subtle sheen.  Its allergy tested and 100% fragrance free.

Ingredients:

Castor seed oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, vegetable oil, candelilla wax, beeswax, shea butter, hydrogenated vegetable oil, jojoba seed oil, tocopherol, mango seed butter, meadow foam seed oil, hydrogenated olive oil, sunflower seed oil, titanium dioxide, mica.  Colors-yellow 5 lake(ci 19140).iron oxides(ci 77491,ci 77492,ci 77499).red 22 lake(ci 73360).carmine(ci 75470).red 6(ci 15850).bismuth oxychloride(ci 17200).red 28 lake(ci 45410).blue 1 lake(ci 42090).yellow 6 lake(ci 15985)

This is how it looks on me, I have pigmented lips.  For people with naturally pink lips, it will enhance the color and brighten up the face.

My Thoughts on Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm – Two Ton Tomato:

I don’t wear lipsticks on a daily basis and I prefer tinted balms that offer sheer color and moisturization and this balm scores a 10/10 at that. It’s a lovely shade of red, although I wish it had orange undertones rather than pink. It goes on sheer in one or two swipes and definitely can be built up for a more intense color.

This is how it looks when you turn it to the max.  Although the stick looks big and thick, the amount of product is very less, I am sure I will finish this up very soon.

Two Ton Tomato 2

It’s a perfect color for people with fair skin, but it suits my medium skin tone just as well, but the best thing about the balm is how light it feels on the lips, absolutely no stickiness yet not compromising on the moisturizing part. I don’t have very dry lips, but my lips are slightly pigmented, especially the upper lip.  This one offers sheer coverage and just the right amount of color for office wear. Its staying power is decent I would say, doesn’t last through meals though! It has no artificial fragrance, but smells mildly of some oil.

So, here’s the final verdict:

Pros of Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm – Two Ton Tomato:

  • Light yet moisturizing.
  • Beautiful color, especially for fairer skin tones.
  • Hasmango seed butter, Shea butter, olive oil, jojoba seed oil, sunflower oil, castor oil etc, and titanium dioxide which acts as a sunscreen, hence a bonus.
  • Pretty packaging.

Cons of Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm – Two Ton Tomato:

  • Very expensive for a balm at 1025 INR for 3 gms :’(
  • Very less quantity.

IMBB Rating:

4/5.

I love, love this balm, but had to reduce a point for being very expensive.

Do I Recommend Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm – Two Ton Tomato?

Definitely yes, if you don’t mind it burning a big hole in your pocket!

So true about the white coats lending the SA’s credibility, Ramya! I always felt like I could trust them and they know what they’re doing, but had no idea why!

The SA I interacted with actually sounded very credible, But I cannot take the risk of using anything on my super sensitive skin :(

Nice review. But chubby sticks are way too sheer for my liking. But I will definitely check out the color payoff in a more deep shade… :-)

Vineetha, They have a new range called Chubby stick intense, which offers a better color pay-off, but I don’t think its available in India… :)
