Colorbar Brick-O-La Velvet Matte Lipstick Review

Hi people!

I had been looking for a lipstick that would match the dress that I am wearing on my upcoming college fest and I bumped into this. I had never given Colorbar lipsticks a shot, so I decided to give it a go. So, let’s get to the review.

My Experience with Colorbar Brick-O-La Velvet Matte Lipstick:

Packaging: I loved the gorgeous packaging. The cylindrical silver tube with a transparent cap is a treat to the eyes. The lippies are color coded; the exact lippie shade is at the base of the lipstick. So, it is easier to identify when you’ve got more than one shade from the range. The cap clicks shut satisfactorily and you can easily toss it into handbags. The bullet is very innovatively shaped, I totally loved it. I just cannot stop looking at it. 😀

Shade: Brick-O-La is a beautiful pink with red undertones. The red tones are just perfect to brighten up the face, but not too overpowering for the pink. This shade will look pretty on all skin tones. It is free of any shimmer, which is a plus for me.

Texture: The texture of the lipstick is very soft and light. It glides easily on lips even without exfoliation. It feels very lightweight on the lips. It does not highlight fine lines to a great extent. It settles into a subtle matte. I love the finish of this lipstick.

Pigmentation: This lipstick has lovely pigmentation. It gives maximum color pay off with a single swipe, which is pretty laudable. It does not have any bothersome smell or taste.

Lasting power: This lipstick lasted on me for 2.5+ hours, without snacking. It transfers heavily, which is a big turn off. I hate to see lipstick marks on cups and spoons. Even the slightest touch transfers the color. After it fades away, it leaves a bright pink tint behind. But, it is so hard to get that stain off. The stain looks pretty, even though, it gives a hard time.

Lastly, I love this lipstick, but I find it too loud for a normal day out. I reserve it only for special occasions like parties or weddings. It is also pretty affordable and is of supreme quality.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Colorbar Brick-O-La Velvet Matte Lipstick?

Yes. This is a good buy and a pretty shade for those who are comfortable to flaunt bold shades on daily basis. The texture and finish is superb. I seldom finish my lipsticks, so I don’t think I’ll be getting this again. 😀

  1. Love, love, love this shade. It’s completely one of those pep-me-up shades, my absolute favourite for the longest time. Good review, Disha, and I agree – it suits almost all skin tones.
I only wish Colorbar could go back to its old formula for these Velvet Matte lipsticks – I hate the stain these leave behind.
