Hello IMBB beauties! On a recent visit to New Beauty Centre, Khar (Mumbai based readers will know :D) I went to the Colorbar counter to pick up the Nude Pink lip liner and Ripe apple lip gloss(reviewed on IMBB some time back) I didn’t find the lip gloss so the SA started showing me other glosses and lip sticks after I described the shade I wanted. None of the shades or textures caught my fancy until she showed me DIVA lipstick in shade ’03 Dress to Impress’. The lipstick was so soft and creamy, it glided like butter on my hand when she swatched it. The shade was an earthy mauvish pink shade which looked similar to Chambor truly lasting ‘Truly Nutty’. I compared the 2 shades and once satisfied that they were different, I picked up this beauty. This is the kind of shade that’ll suit all skin tones. Now the review..

Packaging : It comes in a round bottom cylindrical silver colored casing with a piece of red plastic in the centre. Once you open the cap, the red part continues to form the upper half housing the lipstick. The packaging is quite sturdy and the lipstick snaps shut with a click ensuring the cap is closed. The half red packaging is a reminiscent of MAC Viva glam lipsticks. The slanted tip of the lipstick makes application easy.
Texture and Pigmentation : The lipstick is soft and smooth without any shimmer. It glides easily on the lips. The tester that the SA had shown me was however even smoother in texture, almost buttery (Like Chambor lipsticks). Pigmentation of this lipstick is quite good. Single swipe gives opaque coverage and good color which intensifies in 2-3 swipes. The first time I applied this lipstick, I did not feel that it is very moisturizing. The lines of my lips also seem a little accentuated. But after 5-10 min, the appearance of the lips became quite smooth and the lipstick felt very comfortable on the lips.
Lasting Power : Somehow with my initial impression of this lipstick, I was not expecting it to wear well or last on my lips. But after a meal and about 2-3 hours of walking around outside, I was surprized to see the lipstick still there. The color had faded (because of the meal) but the fading was very even and my lips appeared smooth and naturally earthy pink tinted . The lipstick lasted for more than 5 hours even after another mini-meal with a little more even fading. Moreover, contrary to the first impression, my lips felt moisturized and soft few hours post application.
Shade selection : The website lists 3 shades- Dress to Impress (earthy mauve- pink), For keeps (Plum) and Red she said (Maroon) but I do remember seeing 2 more brownish shades at the Colorbar counter. The shade selection is limited an disappointing. I wish there were more pinks and peach shades.
PROs of Colorbar DIVA Lipstick
1. Sturdy packaging .
2. Smooth soft texture and good pigmentation.
3. Does not settle into fine lines. Instead gives a smooth appearance to lips
4. Good moisturization- lips felt softer after application
5. The most imp part – good lasting power of 4-5 hours with even fading on eating/drinking
6. Did not feather or bleed without lip liner. I however powder my face well so that prevents bleeding and smudging of kajal as well as lipsticks.
7. Well priced for the quality and quantity
8. The proceeds of the sale of this lipstick are used for a good cause.
CONS of Colorbar DIVA Lipstick
1. Difficult to identify shade from outside
2. Limited shade selection
3. Not as easily available(as a brand and this range also)
Final verdict – It is a universally flattering earthy mauve-pink shade with soft, smooth texture, good pigmentation and 4-5 hours of lasting power. The lip color fades evenly with time , moisturized the lips well and gives them a smooth appearance. The packaging and shade selection could have been better.
Will I repurchase – If I do finish this shade, then YES! I love this shade and the quality of this lipstick.

Ritika, I think that entire range has been discontinued. I only saw the hollywood lights, juicy tube one and round cylindrical gloss range at the counter. Which lip liner is it? Is it Nude pink?

The lip liner is streetwear’s..though the shade is called Pink but its a very nice suttle color for everyday,and it looks exactly like this lipstick when I top it up with a clear gloss 😀

Beauty centre is a store in Mumbai. It has all makeup and skincare/body care brands and it sells all products 10-20% discounted. A lot of parlor ladies etc buy products from here.

no, i wanted a light pink so got pink wine…its not mauvish though…will do a faces review soon n then u can compare…bi have enuf hot pinks, all of them so similar that on my next sale i am going to get rid of a few :yelo: but this diva lisptick is very similar to anuradha’s “jazz berry” matte lisptick from faces…i saw that one too yesterday but was confused if it wud suit me or not so did not buy jazz berry, its a a purple……purples dont suit me or so i feel, though it was a sultry rather than a blsuhy purple so may have lloked good on me.
This one doesn’t look mauvish on the lips..it appears earthy pink..I’d attached a pic but I guess Rati didn’t put it up. You have a sale soon , then I’ll pick up a hot pink from you..I don’t have a single one (Except Hooked on Pink..but thats more like a warm fuchsia)

Thank you Anuradha..I’ve faced a similar situation. Most times their counters are really badly stocked..most products missing..sometimes the SAs are missing 😛 You can try online ordering. I think Shyna (don’t know if you know her) had ordered and she was satisfied with the service.

I picked up the Lotus 3-in-1 foundation after your review..Loving it!! It looks so natural and the shade is exactly my skin tone, I can barely see it when I swipe it on my skin. The shade name is Creamy Peach I think. Natural Beige was not there at the Lotus counter I went to.

The lotus foundation feels exactly the same on my skin-while writing the review I found it hard to get the swatch on photos as it almost disappears on my skin 🙂 🙂 🙂 I just saw the Irish Rose and other swatches in the link-LOVELYYYY they are!!!! lets see-I will make a final check at a Pantaloons outlet-if I dont get these shades there- I would go for the online ordering 🙂 🙂

really nice shade ankita. :)) I have a similar one in Maxfactor – Midnight Mauve. Its become my HG lipstick atm!! I wear it everyday to uni. And I have been to the Khar beauty center. Its awesome. but the rush in the cash counter is crazzyy especially during major sales :stars:
I used to stay away from mauve undertone shades but now that I’ve tried this one and another from Chambor- they look so natural and beautiful ! Khar Beauty has mad rush..the counters are also so closely arranged, there’s barely space to walk but the product availability and the discounts !! I’ve not tried any product from Maxfactor till now..any thing you’d recommend? Is Maxfactor available in UAE or did you pick it up from India?
I agree actually I find the entire down floor very closely arranged. Last year when I had gone, there were so many family members in the ground floor like whole khandaan came to buy just one female’s products :hypnotized: just to pick up 2 things took me 2 hours until I finally paid and came out. Maxfactor is available here 🙂 Personally I recommend you to get the lipstick Midnight Mauve, its too good. Max Factor Lash Extension Effect is a great mascara for lengthening & Max Factor Xperience Volumizing Mascara for volumizing. Actually, most of their mascaras are really good. you should try them. Also another best & unique product is the Max Factor Natural Glaze Kohl Pencil. Its a perfect dupe for Mac Chromographic eye pencil NC15/NW20. good for using on your waterline :))

Hi Jigyaasa, :)) its best not to use lip products in the eye area especially on the waterline since that is in direct contact with the eye. In face, most eye liners are also not water line safe so lip liner on water line is definitely a no-no. If you can lay your hands on NYX products somewhere, look out for their Jumbo eye pencils..they come in all colors and are water line safe(‘strawberry milk’ and ‘hot pink’ are pink shades in this range). The eye pencil you can use on your lips as well but not the other way round. Where do you stay? If you’re in Mumbai, you can find NYX at New Beauty centre, Khar.

Late to the party… very pretty shade but Im always worried if things with a hint of pink will work for me… will give it a try – the price is decent too.
I think it’ll work for you Shai..it is brown-mauve-pink mixture..you can use with a brownish nude lip liner underneath to bring out the earthy shade and tone down the pink. Its a lovely shade..do try it!
