Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black Review

Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black Review

Hello all you beautiful gals!!

No matter how many makeup products we own and use, we all are, somewhere down in our hearts, the simple “kohled eye” girls, don’t you think? A simple dash of kohl, can add an intensity and depth to your eyes and face, which can make us stand out, not to forget the fact that we all are blessed with beautiful medium and olive skin tones, which make the world identify us with this mysterious product which started as nothing more than a “dibbi” of surma.  This, precisely is the reason, as far as kajals are concerned, I always tend to pick up a new one, to satisfy my curiosity, and seldom is it that I am disappointed. The intensity, darkness of the black, the smudge proof and water proof features define the perfect kajal for me, and I am sure for most of you as well. The product that I am going to review for you gals today, (while listening to “Bang Bang” on full volume, I literally have drooled over the dance steps in the video, makes you swoon lazily, awesome addition to Hrithik’s marvelous dance tracks), is Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal in the shade Just Black. Read on to find out how it fared on on my rate-o-meter.

Product/Packaging/Description/Ingredients:

The Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal comes in the traditional silver cardboard packaging of Colorbar, similar for all the products, the difference only being in size, according to the product that it contains. There is a color-coded square at the bottom of packaging, so that you can easily pick the shade out of your stash. I appreciate an outer packaging every time, because it is handy in case your product’s cap decides to come off on its own, and doodle the insides of your handbag.  The product inside also has a very classy appearance. It is capped on both sides, one for the kajal and the other for the foam smudger. The caps are tight enough, but at the same time, not a pain to remove for use and replace after use.

Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black, comes at a price of Rs. 675. The quantity provided is 1.2 gm.  It is indeed very pricey, given the fact that this is a sharpenable product. Also, they claim to be a kajal, eyeliner and eyeshadow in one, which I guess all eye pencils are, only they do not claim so.

My Experience with Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black:

This kajal is creamy jet black, yes it is. I have loved the I glide pencils from Colorbar and that was the only reason that I decided to give Just Smoky a chance, in spite of the price, and no review to support it. I am in love with this kajal. Not all blacks are worth your investment, but this one surely is.

It glides on your water line, your lash lines, perfectly. No tugging and pulling, just creamy softness. It sets pretty quickly so you have to smudge as soon as you apply it, i.e. if you want to go for a smudged look. It gives a generous black in one stroke, although you can increase the intensity with a second one.

Another fact that I like about it that it does not get blunt quickly. I have used it three times till now, twice on water line and once as an eyeliner, but the tip does not reduce to a blunt quickly, as is the case with my Faces Eye Pencil. I can say that the current state can last one more time, before I sharpen it. So, the lasting power of the product is too good. If you get a kajal which can be applied four times before you sharp, it’s going to last you long.

The smudger provided is of good quality if not excellent. It does the job of softly smudging your kohl lines perfectly.  Rest, as far as smudging on the whole eyelid is concerned, as eye shadow, I don’t think this is going to work well.

This is really waterproof and smudge-proof. Okay, I am going to confess, I have cried my heart out wearing this on my water line, and at the end of it, the fading was minimal, and there was no smudging, and certainly there were no dark lines of water cascading down my cheeks 😛 You rub it, wash it, do whatever you want, but unless your efforts are crazy and insane, this one is not going to give you any “raccoon eye” embarrassing moments.

It can be easily removed by your eye makeup remover. No cleansing milk or wipes, as the kajal is not going to budge even an inch if you use these. Also, it took two cotton balls of remover, per eye, to completely remove the traces off my eyes. But then, if you want features like long lasting, water proof and smudge proof, the kajal is certainly going to be a bit difficult to remove.

Here are the pictures:

Swatch : This is just one stroke, can you imagine? Look at the intensity of the black and the creamy matte finish that it provides.

Summing up:

Pros of Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black:

  • Dark and creamy black.
  • Does not budge once set.
  • Can be smudged to give a soft smoky eye, which does not settle in the fine creases (Note : You have to be really quick here, smudge within a minute).
  • Absolutely smudge-proof and waterproof.
  • The smudger provided does a decent job, and is soft enough for daily usage of softening kohl line.
  • Long lasting, though I have not tested it for 12 hours, but it stays for a whole day with one touch up. Though it fades a bit, but the black kohled look stays intact.
  • Water line safe, no irritation whatsoever. There is no uncomfortable feeling of something sticky in your eyes, which I used to face with Maybelline Colossal kajal.
  • It does not get blunt quickly. Takes around 4 to 5 uses, before you have to sharpen it, so, will last long.
  • Travel-friendly packaging.
  • Easily available online and offline.

Cons of Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black:

  • Sharpening leads to wastage, although the above pro that it does not get blunt quickly, negates this con to a great extent.
  • Pricey it is, but worth the money.

IMBB Rating and Recommendation:

My rating for Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black is 4.9/5.  I am in love with it. This product has come with least publicity and hullabaloo and is a gem of a product for kajal lovers like me.  If you have been disappointed with the performance of Lakme Absolute Kajal like me, after you had been persuaded to buy it due to the awesome advertising skills, pick this one. This is absolutely worth the money you spend on it.  It is rich, dark, long lasting and will survive weepy movies too 😛 Go for it.

      1. Hi Kadambari

I am from Malaysia and I bought Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal when I was in Kerala in September. I love this so much and I want to buy more. Would you how and where I can buy this? This really makes my eyes beautiful and lasts the whole without smudge.

    1. This one is better as i did not like the absolute one..lakme absolute kohl used to fade in patches..this one on the other hand is totally worth it 😀

    1. It lasts all day as an eyeliner..no fading and no budging..n it lasts for a whole day on water line with one touch up..even if you do not do that…the very dark hue of the kajal will b there 🙂

  1. Kadee, you have picked the best kajal’s available, so intense, matte and worth the price, i love it totally and safe for water line….what else one needs 🙂 great detailed write up!

    1. Awwww thaaaanks sumi :* n u know i went for khoobsurat today!!! Fawad Khan as tge disney prince!! Sigh.. Its an awesome movie 😀

    1. I dint like the lakme kohl as i felt it was not worth the price..in fact i felt that my eyeconic worked better than that, though it did not stay that long.. The main prob i faced with absolute kohl that it faded in patches from waterline.. Like on one half it was dark and on other half it was wiped out.. This on the other hand stays put.. Ther is minimal fading and that too uniform 🙂
