Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Berry Fizz

I’m sure that each one of us has fond memories of fiddling with our mothers’ make-up stuff as little girls. My mother has never been a make-up junkie and hence, the only color cosmetics I ever got to smear my face with, were lipsticks. Today, I’m going to review a lipstick that’s clearly one of her favorites – Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick – Berry Fizz.

Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Berry Fizz

Perhaps the only thing that disappoints me about my mother is her unwillingness to try out new shades of lipstick! No matter how much I encourage, pester, or force her to experiment…I can’t seem to make her part with her plums and browns! Berry Fizz being one of them.

Product Description:

For a rich lip color with a creamy shine, the Velvet Matte Lipstick, available in 45 stunning shades infuse the lips with vibrancy.
• Its unique 2-in-1 formulation gives the lips a creamy, yet matte finish.
• A one of a kind product in India, it has super softening agents that give the lips a soft and supple appearance while keep them nourished with Vitamin E.
• Staying on up to 5 hours on application, the Velvet Matte Lipstick can be further accentuated with lip gloss and lip liner.

Price:

INR 250/- for 4.2 g.

Shelf life:

3 years from the date of manufacture.

My take on Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Berry Fizz:

The packaging of velvet mattes is decent…a clear plastic tube with one end showing the color. I would personally like the packaging to be sturdier and classier but at this price, who can complain!
Colorbar velvet matte lipsticks are much loved for their consistency. They are smooth, yet firm. They display amazing tenacity in all weathers and seasons; they do not melt off during summers, and do not harden up in winters. The color pay-off is amazing. One swipe provides an even, opaque coverage and covers up pigmented lips efficiently. The formula is creamy enough and does not dry out the lips. However, a few hours down the line it might begin to feel slightly dry.

Coming to the color, Berry Fizz is a rich plummy-berry shade which would suit most Indian skin tones, and would look especially good on duskier skin tones. However, fairer skinned ladies might want to stay away from this shade. I can say this with conviction because it looks quite flattering on my mother, who has a beautiful dusky complexion but when I tried it on to click some lip swatches for this review, I wasn’t at all impressed. Honestly, swiping it more than once can make your lips look like a chain smoker’s. But again, everyone has their own preferences!

The thing I like best about Colorbar velvet mattes is the staying power. The color doesn’t budge easily and stays on for 4-5 hours even with a full meal in between. The color fades evenly and thankfully, it does not leave behind the weird pink stain that Neha so often complains about in her velvet matte reviews.

Pros of Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Berry Fizz:

• A rich berry shade that would flatter most Indian skin tones.
• Well pigmented and glide smoothly.
• Very long lasting.
• Fades evenly and does not leave behind a pink stain.
• Easily available.
• Inexpensive.

Cons of Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Berry Fizz:

• Might start feeling a bit dry after a few hours of wear.
• Might not suit fairer skin tones.
• Swiping more than once can leave your lips looking like a chain smoker’s.

This is how it looks on me after one light swipe:

plum lips

Recommendation:

At 250 bucks a tube, Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipsticks perhaps deliver more than your money’s worth. They are creamy, pigmented and long-lasting. And there’s a plethora of shades to pick from! Totally recommended! Although I wouldn’t say the same for this particular shade.

IMBB Rating:

4/5 (-1 for the color)
