Coloressence Maroon Mystic Mesmerising Lip Color Review

Hello everyone,

I have been quite busy with college stuff and that kept me away from writing.  I am back now and today’s review is a lipstick from Coloressence. This is my first purchase from the brand and all these days I wasn’t attracted to it at all, considering how boring all their packaging is. I study production, and I do consider how important the appearance of a product will matter to the buyer. So, let us jump to the review.

Price:

175 INR for 4 gm.

Active Ingredients:

Almond oil, vitamin E.

Shelf Life:

3 years.

My Experience with Coloressence Maroon Mystic Mesmerising Lip Color:

Packaging:  As I mentioned, I wasn’t attracted to this lipstick by the looks, it creates an impression that the actual product would be a turn off too. There is nothing fancy about the packaging – the lipstick is housed in a black plastic tube. The tube comes with an outer cover that is pretty convincing. I must say it is quite flimsy and it is evident that I’m not a fan of it! I don’t think the cap would stay put inside handbag and it may come open. The previous versions used to have color-coded bottoms which are not there in the present ones, though I would have liked the former packaging.

Shade:  The shade appears to be a deep maroon in the bullet, but in actual, it is a sheer toned down plum shade with micro shimmers in it. The shimmers appear to be gritty when seen in the bullet, but on lips, it doesn’t show up quite that much. The shimmers do hinder the application though. The shade is sheer and not as dark as it appears, I am into sheer lipsticks. This gives only medium coverage and is not too buildable. It kind of looks like a subtle pink in the lip swatch which is not its true color.

Texture: This lipstick kind of settles into the fine lines on my lips. Application does not feel good as it does not glide. The texture is not at all creamy, it’s quite hard. It does tug and pull and that’s the side effect of the shimmers I feel. Exfoliation is a total necessity if you are to apply this along with a lip balm underneath.

Staying Power:  Staying power is around 2 hours for me, that too without any snacking or chattering. This leaves a light stain on the lips and also shimmer after it fades away. It fades unevenly and looks patchy. It does not cover pigmentation completely. I also noticed that it made the corner of my lips look darker. Weird! A good makeup remover brings all of this down at the end of the day.

Smell and Taste:  It has a weird smell that I dislike and also tastes weird too.

Pros of Coloressence Maroon Mystic Mesmerising Lip Color:

• Inexpensive.
• Average staying power.
• Suits most Indian complexions.
• Quite a wearable shade, I expected it to show up vampy.
• Claims to contain almond oil, vitamin E.

Cons of Coloressence Maroon Mystic Mesmerising Lip Color:

• Hard texture.
• Does not glide smoothly on lips.
• Lips need exfoliation prior to application.
• Isn’t moisturizing, and eventually dries out lips.
• Packaging is flimsy.
• Shimmers are gritty even though they don’t show up on lips.
• Settles in fine lines.
• Weird smell.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Coloressence Maroon Mystic Mesmerising Lip Color?

This is a very affordable lipstick, but I guess Elle 18 ones are far too good if compare them to this one and they are priced lower than this too.  So, I don’t think I’d recommend this. I just got this in an urge to experiment with an unexplored brand, which failed for me, so I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.
