ColourPop StingRaye Ultra Matte Lip Review

Hey lovely ladies,

After reviewing Lumiere 2 for you earlier, today, I have another ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip review for you. This one is named StingRaye – after the YouTube Beauty Guru Raye Boyce of ItsMyRayeRaye. With comparisons of this shade to Kat Von D’s Lolita and Jeffree Archer’s Androgyny – this shade was highly anticipated. Let us see, how this one performed fro me.

ColourPop does have International shipping option (including India). They charge about $25. However, please note that this may levy customs charges on it – which can vary from 30-43%. Alternatively, you can buy the product from Instagram sellers as well. So, by the time you get it in India – it is not going to cost you $6.

My Experience with ColourPop StingRaye Ultra Matte Lip:

Packaging: It has a lipgloss kind of packaging – with a silver cap. The shade name is written at the bottom but since the tube is transparent, it is fairly easy to make out what colour it is; unless you have them in a plethora of shade. It comes packaged in the standard ColourPop white outer box. The applicator is a doe foot applicator which makes for easy and precise application.

Color: The shade “StingRaye” is described as “cool-toned mauve brown”. To me, the description does not seem accurate at all. Honestly, it does not look anything like the swatches I saw online. On me, this shade is deep dark purple with some muted brown in it. I wasn’t sure how to react to the shade initially coz it was so different from the swatches I had seen online. However, after a couple of uses, I’ve become quite enamored with it. The colour is quite intense and gives me a great boost of confidence! I find myself reaching for it quite often.

Raye Boyce has described the shade as “I want to have a shade that everyone can wear and feel confident in.” Honestly, every other colour, which comes out nowadays, is supposed to be universally flattering. Strangely enough, I think this one is. You just need to be able to carry deep shade. This should look good across the spectrum of skin tones. As with the other shades I tried, I feel that the shade intensifies with time and looks quite different after about 30-50minutes.

Texture: This shade also seems to be from the reformulated lot. The lipstick does not fully dry down, it retains just a hint of tackiness. This results in it being extremely comfortable on the lips even over a prolonged period of time. Bonus- it doesn’t bleed or feather and doesn’t cling to any dry patches on my lips.

Pigmentation: Pigmentation is extremely good. You can get precise lines with the wand itself. It went on evenly and covered the pigmentation well.

Lasting power: This is the best part about this shade – you apply it and forget it for pretty much the whole day! A couple of small meals or tea/coffee doesn’t make much of a difference to it. The last time, I wore it for almost the whole day. After about 10 hours and maybe 3 meals/mini-meals – most of the lipstick was still intact and only the inner portion had disappeared. However, it wasn’t looking too bad. It was still passable. Or maybe, it wasn’t looking too bad on me coz the pigmentation on my lips is anyways a shade of purple! Anyway, you can easily do a touch up – it will not look patchy. You do not need to remove the entire lipstick and reapply. To sum this up for you:

Cons of ColourPop StingRaye Ultra Matte Lip:

• Nothing at all.

IMBB Rating: 5/5
I am really really liking this shade. I think it’s a gorgeous shade and would work even better in the fall. I am quite likely to wear this all summer and dig out my corals and oranges in the fall – but that’s just me! I enjoy the shade, love the weartime and love how clean precise application it gives. Would totally recommend it!
