Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation Review

Hello everyone!

Hope you all are doing great!! The product I would be reviewing today is “Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation.”

Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation

Product Description:

With our Clean Oil Control Makeup, you’ll get all the shine control you want, without the drying coverage you don’t. Our Clean foundation for oily skin is made with non-comedogenic, ultra-light oil-absorbers that control oil, plus gentle conditioners that help prevent dryness.

Price:

Approximately CAD 7

Ingredients:

Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation

Shades Available:

There in all 11 shades available. The color range is pretty good. I chose Soft Honey, as it looked like my second skin!! Perfect for my skin tone!

Packaging:

The bottle looks sleek but a bit boring. The one thing I really HATE about the packaging is that it is so difficult to get the foundation out of the bottle!!! I have to shake it so many times to actually get the product out. Another option is to use some kind of sleek/slim brush or a q-tip, dip it in the bottle and get the liquid out, but I never do that as this might cause product contamination. The bottle should have had a pump/dispenser.

Consistency/Smell:

The consistency of the foundation is pretty thick (one reason why it is tougher to get the product out), but still it blends easily and feels smooth. The thickness does not cause a problem. The smell of this product is not exactly bad, but not very good either. It actually smells like turpentine or some chemical basically!! The smell dissipates after a few minutes though.

Performance:

I really like this product! My t-zone gets a bit oily/sticky/shiny during summer and my skin gets really dry during winter. Otherwise, I have a pretty normal skin. I picked it up also because I had read that it is non comedogenic. Of course, that does not guarantee that the product would not break me out and cause blemishes (as some non-comedogenic products have broken out my skin in the past), but this one really did not. The foundation blends easily and evenly and does not feel heavy on the skin. It provides a decent light coverage. It is buildable to a good medium coverage as well. This does not conceal dark circles and acne. If you try covering acne with this foundation (instead of a concealer), it might start looking cakey in some time.  Otherwise, the foundation does not feel streaky or cakey at all.

The finish is really matte and my skin feels smooth, silky on application. This sets really well.  I often use this as a tinted moisturiser. I just mix one part moisturiser and one part foundation and then dust a little loose powder. It brightens my face, without giving a very made up look. When used as a tinted moisturiser, it gives a very natural radiant look, which is perfect for everyday wear. For casual hangouts with friends, shopping trips, movie dates, this feels and looks good. Even if used without pressed/loose powder, it gives a nice finish and face looks fresh.

When I build it up to a medium coverage, and use a pressed powder, this lasts for about 4 hours. After that, I generally need to dust some powder (during summer) as my face starts feeling a bit sticky. I am not sure how well this product might hold up on very oily skin though. I feel it might not last for a long time and skin might start getting oily a little earlier. If used alone (without powder), it lasts about 2-3 hours. But I always use powder (pressed / loose) to set any foundation.

Pros of Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation:

  • Affordable.
  • Good light to medium coverage.
  • Though thick in consistency, it feels light on the skin.
  • Blends easily and evenly.
  • Very matte finish.
  • Skin feels smooth and radiant.
  • Does not feel streaky and cakey.

Cons of Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation:

  • Does not conceal acne and dark circles.
  • Smells a bit weird for the first few minutes.
  • Bad packaging.
  • Not very amazing in oil control.

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5

Verdict:

This is a pretty decent product for this price. It might not be the best oil control foundation, but it definitely works well on skin that is slightly oily. For beauties with really oily/blemish prone skin, I would recommend you try some other product.
