packaging

Packaging:
‘Simple and sturdy’ best defines the packaging of this eyeshadow quad. The plastic case, which has the Covergirl logo, feels flimsy and attracts dust and fingerprints, giving it a very dull appearance. But you can easily toss this in your handbag without fear of it opening. It’s very compact, but yes I don’t find the kit attractive or elegant. The kit also houses a double ended sponge applicator.

My Experience with Covergirl Tropical Fusion Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadow:

I mostly stick to neutrals and colors like gray and pink for my eyes. I was looking for an affordable option to play with colors. The ‘Tropical Fusion’ variant looked vibrant and summery, and I couldn’t resist picking it up. The shadows, as I said, are very bright and scream spring-summer. From right to left, the shadow colors are bright navy blue, a sea greenish-teal, a burnt orange shade, and rusty lime green.

Describing each color individually for you:
The dark blue is matte in texture, has medium pigmentation, and applies nicely on the lids. It has the best pigmentation in this kit. Two swipes can give a bold color payoff, and you can build the shade to your liking. The texture is slightly powdery but there is no issue in blending this.

Sea-green or teal is one of my favorite colors and I was so excited to see this color. The pigmentation is okayish, but you need to layer it up to have the opaque shade. It is smooth and matte with a slight sheen. It doesn’t go patchy on lids and sets well.

The burnt orange has low pigmentation and might not show up on all skin colors. But, if layered well, it can give a very catchy appearance.

The rusty lime green has the lowest pigmentation but is a lovely color. Applies nicely but feels like a sheer wash of color. You need to apply multiple layers.

close up of eyeshadows

The eyeshadows are soft to touch, not the smoothest and most finely milled ones, but still okay. The biggest problem is there are fallout issues. The shadow tends to crumble even in the kit, and so the kit becomes dirty soon. A primer is a must with these, as the longevity is okay on its own. Also, a white shadow or shadow base is recommended to help you recreate an eye-popping makeup. Without a primer, the darker shades (blue and teal) last for 5 hours, but the lighter shades fade in 3 hours.

There is no creasing. The sponge applicator is very fragile and feels cheap, and is basically of no use. I loved the colors, but I wish the formula was better, it would be a great buy. But if a decent kit for novices to eye makeup is what you are looking for, do try this.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Covergirl Tropical Fusion Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadow?
I don’t wear bright colors generally, so this will last long and I won’t repurchase this same one. The recommendation is for those who want to try vibrant colors and are afraid of investing in pricier kits for experimentation. The colors are lovely, do try.
