Hello gorgeous ladies,

On my recent trip to Shopper’s Drugmart (it’s the drugstore in Canada), I found the Covergirl Outlast Longwear + Moisture Lipstick which I had not tried before, so I decided to give a few shades a go and see for myself how I feel about these. Today, the shade that I am going to review is called “Vixen Violet.” Let’s straight get into the review!

My Experience with Covergirl Vixen Violet Outlast Longwear + Moisture Lipstick:

Packaging: This Covergirl lipstick comes in a shiny glossy silver packaging with a transparent cap. The packaging is uncomplicated and screams “drugstore” to me. There is nothing fancy about the packaging and is a bit flimsy, I would say. I need some effort to fix the cap back on and even remove it.
Packaging

The fact that the lipstick bullet does not swivel back completely into the tube, makes opening and closing the cap even more difficult as there is always a fear of damaging the lipstick bullet a bit until the protruding part is used up! The shade name of the lipstick is on a sticker on the side of the cap and not on the bottom like standard lipsticks.

Color: “Vixen Violet” is a cool-toned light purple-y lavender shade with slight blue undertones. It has extremely finely milled gold shimmer particles which are not visible on the lips as shimmers, but instead impart a beautiful golden sheen. This shade is for ladies who either love such bold shades or like experimenting with other lip colors apart from the regular n*des and pinks.

Pigmentation: The lipstick is insanely pigmented and delivers a full colour pay-off in just a couple of swipes. This lipstick can easily cover pigmented lips, if that’s your concern. The pigmentation can also be built up as per liking, because it does not cake up of feel heavy after 2-3 swipes.

Texture: The texture of this lipstick can be best described as a fusion of crème and gel. It glides on the lips smoothly without any tugging or pulling. This lipstick is by no means a matte finish lipstick as it claims to be a formulation which is long wearing and adds moisture. The lipstick feels soft and comfortable on the lips and imparts a semi-glossy finish due to its moisturizing nature. Since the shimmers are super fine, the lipstick feels creamy and not gritty.

Longevity: The wear time of this shade is above average and lasts for a good 5-6 hours with some snacking and beverages. Since it leaves behind an orange-red stain, the lipstick never seems to leave the lips completely until removed with a makeup remover.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Covergirl Vixen Violet Outlast Longwear + Moisture Lipstick?
This Covergirl Outlast Longwear + Moisture Lipstick range does not have anything super attractive about the formulation. It’s just like any drugstore lipstick except that they do not have tall claims like this one. I would any day prefer L’Oreal, Hard Candy and Milani lipsticks more than this one, but it’s not bad either. If you are drawn to this shade in particular, then sure go for it.  So, ultimately, it’s up to you to decide ladies!
