My Experience with CVS Wax Strip Hair Remover Kit:

I bought this pack of wax strips at some point last year when I was visiting my cousins in the US and I really needed to get my eyebrows and upper lip, but I didn’t know of any salon in the vicinity. I went to CVS and picked this one up. It was reasonably priced and it seemed like something that would come to my rescue (since these wax strips were designed for sensitive areas like the face and bikini line).

I went home and tried it out immediately—however I used it only on my upper lip and chin (I have a ton of thick hair, especially on my upper lip). For my eyebrows, I just stuck to tweezing because I really didn’t want to experiment with the shape. I should mention that even for my eyebrows, I have a lot of hair growth, so I have to be very careful and precise with the removal process. If you are someone who only has sparse hair around your eyebrows, then these strips could possibly work for you. Apart from that, I have not used these strips anywhere else on my face nor have I used it for bikini hair.

To describe the strips, there are a total of three sizes (as you can see in the pictures). I prefer to use the smallest size for my upper lip and also for my chin. I think the same size would be ideal for the eyebrows as well. The next size can work for other parts of the face. The largest size is meant for the bikini line. However, you can choose the size that works best for your purpose.  These are, of course, pre-cut and pre-waxed strips. You don’t need to re-heat them before application – they are ready to use. Each strip is good for up to three to four attempts at hair removal.  The strips are not harsh and are non-abrasive.

This is a great option for an emergency. I have used these strips about 4-5 times to remove upper lip and chin hair when I suddenly have to go out and don’t have any other option. They are quite effective, but for my upper lip, I always have to get someone else to pull it off for me! I just don’t have that kind of courage. I usually have to reapply the strip 2-3 times before most of the hair comes off. While these are not harsh on the skin, but I would recommend that you don’t keep tugging at the same region more than two or three times (at the most), because that has caused redness for me before.

For my upper lip especially, I would say that these strips remove about 80-85% of the hair and I just tweeze out the remaining.

I have used the finishing wipes available with this pack just once and they are quite nice, but usually I just apply ice and a moisturiser of my own choice. However, if you have a lot of wax residue, then these wipes will help with that.

As far as using these strips on other parts of the face, eyebrows and the bikini region are concerned; I don’t think I will be doing that. That’s a job that is best left to the professional, I think.

I haven’t used any other brand or types of wax strips for the face, but I am sure that there must be other good ones around. Overall, these strips are quite decent and have really helped me out in emergency situations.

Pros of CVS Wax Strip Hair Remover Kit:

  • Effective at hair removal without being harsh on the skin.
  • Pre-cut and pre-waxed strips, convenient to use and travel-friendly.
  • Designed for sensitive areas like face and bikini line.
  • Pack includes three different sizes.
  • Finishing wipes included.

Cons of CVS Wax Strip Hair Remover Kit:

  • Not sure how well these would work for eyebrows.
  • Wipes contain parabens.

My Verdict on CVS Wax Strip Hair Remover Kit:

While I wouldn’t recommend this as a method of regular hair removal (but that’s just a personal choice), I think that these are quite useful in emergency situations.
