DIY Fruit Face Mask

Hello IMBBians. 🙂

Winter is almost on the verge of ending in my city. The cold and chilly air have packed their bags and left. I am happy that it’s back to normal because I was battling with dry skin. Recently I started using a day cream, Garnier Fair miracle. Ever since I started using that tiny bumps started to appear on my face, when I stopped using they gradually disappeared. I repeated this twice, and confirmed the cause of the bumps. It may be due to some allergic reaction with the chemicals, hence I tend to choose my skin care wisely. I’ve been trying all kinds of face masks and face packs to make them wear off. 🙁

Self-pampering is a must, at least once in a while to take a day off from the stressful week and relax. Being mentally and physically healthy is important, and it reflects through your skin. Other than that essential care is also necessary. For the best of health we consume fresh fruits and veggies, and the same thing can be used to obtain glowing skin also. So, here’s a fruit mask that is easy-peasy, and so awesome for the skin.

What you’ll need:

  • Apple
  • Banana
  • Tomato
  • Wheat flour- 1 tbsp
  • Honey – 1 tbsp

Step 1: Gather all the ingredients. I have used the ones that are easily available at all times and is usually in everybody’s kitchen.

Step 2: Make a paste out of the apple and tomato. I have used half of the small sized apple and tomato each.

Step 3: Mash the banana using a spoon or fork into a smooth paste. I have used about a quarter of the banana.

Step 4: Mix the apple+tomato paste, banana paste, honey and wheat flour (atta) into a thick paste. Just to jazz up things, I have also added a tablespoon of orange juice (since I was out of oranges).

Anddd you’re done! Apply this face mask all over the face and neck. Sit back, relax; dream about all those Louboutins and Saint Laurents 😀 for about 20 minutes. Massage for a while and rinse it. Say hello to gorgeous, glowing skin.

I noticed that my skin was soft, moisturised and glowing. Also, I haven’t mentioned the quantities of the fruits. They can be used based on your requirement.

Benefits of the ingredients used:

Apple: ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’ is a well said proverb. Apple is rich in Vitamin A,B and C that not only keeps doctors away, but also keeps wrinkles at bay! It helps in making the skin firm and soft.

Banana: Banana is filled with Vitamins, potassium and iron just to mention a few; they help in making the skin supple, firm and adds a boost of radiance.

Tomato: Tomato is a natural cleanser. It helps in lightening the pigmentation and improve skin tone. It also has de-tanning properties that can help remove tanning.

Wheat flour: Our humble ‘atta’ is rich in Vitamin E, an antioxidant that facilitates cell respiration, and lower the risks of skin cancer. It also helps to slow the aging process. It helps in removing dead skin cells by gentle exfoliation. Using wheat flour, the runny texture of the fruits can be controlled to make application easy.

Honey: History says that, the secret to Cleopatra’s flawless beauty was honey. Honey is useful in moisturising the skin. It has abundant sugars, acids and enzymes that help in clearing scars and blemishes.

This is my first DIY post and I’m pretty nervous. I hope to have made a good attempt. 🙂
Take care. 🙂
