My Experience with Dolce and Gabbana The Eyeliner :

I picked up two eyeliners from Dolce and Gabbana.

Stromboli (1): It is a charcoal black color with golden glitter. The eyeliner looked interesting since it is a softer shade of black , plus glitter in an eyeliner was an added bonus. This turned out to be a sheer disappointment. First, the eyeliner is hard. I am used to of using creamy eyeliners and this one definitley needs a bit of an effort to draw a line. It does not tug the eyes but it is hard against the delicate eye lids. The glitter is fine but when you apply it you can feel the coarseness / harshness of glitter against the skin. I barely use it. But honestly, I would not recommend it despite it being a unique color and a lovely idea for an eyeliner. You cannot wear Stromboli on your waterline because those glitters would just feel poky.

Coffee(2) : This one I absolutely love. It is a beautiful dark coppery brown color with golden glitter. But this does not have the problem that Stromboli has. The glitter does not feel scratchy against the skin. This is not the softest liner but it is miles softer than its black version. An amazing color for day time especially. And it is a lovely color for those with green and blue eyes, especially.

  • Both the colors build up beautifully to give that intense color against the skin.
  • Both of them can be smudged softly but they are not the creamiest liners that can be smudged easily for soft smokey eye makeup look.
  • The glitter in liner makes them a bit unique. There is a little bit of sparkle all over the liner that looks pretty.
  • The glitter twinkles when it catches light. Cute! 🙂
  • These are sharpenable pencils so you can get a very sharp line. I am a bit disappointed that these don’t come with sharpeners along with.
  • The staying power on their own is around 5-6 hours or so. They sort of start fading and moving after that. The liner does not disappear completely but it does not look fresh. But if you wear them with primer and eyeshadow underneath they stay on until you remove them. I also wear them smudged sometimes and the smudging gives them the maximum staying strength.
  • They have a lovely smudge brush at the end.
  • I love the gorgeous gold packaging.
  • Never caused any irritation to my eyes.

Overall, I am not too impressed with these eyeliners mainly because I prefer my liners to just glide on my delicate eye lids. The black one especially feels harsh against the lids. Don’t think I’d be repurchasing these ion other colors despite glitter being so beautiful.

Rating : Stromboli : 2.5/5 ; Coffee – 3.5/5
