My Take on e.l.f. Hydrating Under Eye Primer – Clear:

Why one needs primer:
• Reduces appearance of fine lines.
• Enhances the color of eye shadow.
• Acts as a smooth base to apply eye shadow.
• Ensures that makeup lasts longer.

But the primer in this post claims to do a little more than above mentioned pointers; it also hydrates and moisturizes the sensitive under eye skin which would eventually lead to younger skin and reduced wrinkles.

Packaging: Product comes in a black cylindrical bottle with a pump on top and a black cap over it. I like the pump mechanism – dispenses pea size product and keeps everything hygienic and nonmessy.

Texture: Since it is a primer, I was expecting it to have the usual primer-like texture (silicon infused) but this particular e.l.f. primer feels like a normal moisturizer and does not leave a smooth canvas behind the way primers usually do. However, it does provide a brief soothing feeling to eyes and area around it but it does also take forever to get absorbed and one needs to wait for a good few minutes before applying makeup.

Efficacy: It might be good at providing hydration and other skin benefits like it claims but I think it would take a while before one can notice any significant reduction in wrinkles and moisture. Was it good to apply makeup? I don’t think so because first it took forever to get absorbed and even when it did, the skin did not feel primed and prepped for makeup application, so I would say it is not a very efficient product.

Wear time: Like I mentioned in the efficacy section, it does not have any benefits of a good primer so obviously I did not feel any enhancement in the wear time of my makeup. After it dries up, I have to apply my usual primer to increase the wear time of my makeup and prevent my foundation from creasing and when in hurry I skip it all together.

Pros of e.l.f. Hydrating Under Eye Primer – Clear:

• Cylindrical tube with a pump mechanism.
• Packaging keeps product bacteria free.
• Product is for all skin types and skin tones.
• Gives a soothing feeling to eyes.
• Has a nice, subtle fragrance.

Cons of e.l.f. Hydrating Under Eye Primer – Clear:

• Does not have benefits of a good primer.
• Takes a long time to get absorbed by skin.
• No sure about how beneficial it is at preventing wrinkles.
