Ingredients:
Jojoba Oil soothes, moisturizes and softens the skin. Coconut Oil is a moisturizing remedy to prevent wrinkles and sagging. Candelilla Wax protects the skin against moisture loss. Castor Oil is soothing, rich in antioxidants and helps to prevent aging. Shea Butter is deep penetrating and long acting. It is needed to restore the skin’s moisture balance and prevent visible signs of aging and wrinkles. Olive Oil combats aging and locks in moisture. Tocopherol is a Vitamin E derivative and is a powerful antioxidant helping the skin look younger and promotes skin healing. Ascorbyl Palmitate is a Vitamin C derivative that promotes healthy skin and vitality. Retinyl Palmitate is a Vitamin A derivative that is a powerful anti-oxidant that increases skin elasticity, yielding younger looking skin and helps to smooth out fine lines. Mica ingredients impart a soft focus effect that creates a natural, healthy, and youthful glow that instantly fills facial lines to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Titanium Dioxide is also an important ingredient because of its ability to provide sun protection to the skin.
Packaging
When my friend saw the outer carton the lipstick came in, she asked me if this was the cheapest e.l.f. product I own. I then proceeded to tell her that it is one of the most expensive one I own, her awestruck eyes were a sight to behold! :p
The outer carton does make the product look cheap, but the actual lipstick tube is a classy matte black package that feels like a high end lipstick and makes me feel happy every time I see it.
The packaging is travel safe as it snaps shut with a satisfying click every time. But it’s hard to locate in my vanity, seeing as there is no shade indication that can be seen easily.
My take on the e.l.f. Mineral Lipstick in Rich Raspberry:
Rich Rasberry, the name makes you think of a very deep pink which is exactly what this lipstick is, so congratulations to e.l.f. for a perfect shade description/name. While the shade is described perfectly, I don’t think it’s a vava-voom colour. This is a colour which you can find in any brand without any issue.
The real draw is the mineral formula that have no parabens and are apparently very safe. In the age of CSR, the Mineral range of e.l.f. is a very beautiful step in the right direction. It claims to have anti-ageing properties that I have no way of cross checking but the formula is such, that it doesn’t settle into fine lines and does give a “soft focus” effect. The longevity is average at best, about 3-4 hours without any meals in between. When you first apply this lipstick, it gives a glossy finish which then fades into a semi matte within 2 hours and feels a little uncomfortable on my dry lips. So despite its initially forgiving formula, it is very important to exfoliate your lips, because subsequently it won’t remain so forgiving.
There is one stroke opacity, and the formula is extremely moisturising, atleast initially. It also provides sun protection due to the presence of Titanium Dioxide. The Mineral range is higher priced than both the Essential and Studio ranges, justifiably so seeing as the quality is much higher but perhaps a dollar or two lesser would be nice because one doesn’t expect such a price range from e.l.f. But nevertheless, there is a huge range of colours in this range, there is no doubt that everyone will find atleast a shade or two that they absolutely adore.
Pros of e.l.f. Mineral Lipstick in Rich Raspberry:
1.Sturdy travel safe packaging.
2. Matte packaging
3. Moisturising
4. One stroke opacity
5. Even application
6.100% organic ingredients
7. Huge range of colours
8. Provides Sun protection
Cons of e.l.f. Mineral Lipstick in Rich Raspberry:
1. Periodic reapplication is required.
2. Higher priced than regular e.l.f.
3. Loses moisturising properties after 2 hours.
4. Common shade
