Hi team,

Today I am here with a query, I am looking for your valuable inputs on this. I am 27 yrs old and have severe dark circles. I have dark circles from school days only, now I work on laptop for around 10 hrs, but even when I am not doing that for weeks, I don’t see any improvement. I have been using several eye creams for almost 2 years now, but nothing worked well for me, these includes aroma magic under eye cream and gel, fair and lovely, bHimalaya under eye cream, biotique under eye cream, Neutrogena. I have also tried home remedies like cucumber and potato juice. Is there any way I can find out what causes my dark circles. Also, please suggest effective eye creams.

  1. There’s an ointment called wunder eye cream, try that, but I would advise you to see a dermatologist first to get an effective treatment

    1. I too thought about that…but dermatologist generally gives lot of medicines that show quick but temporary effects..Also too many side effects of those medicines…..many years back I referred derma for some treatment and end up gaining lot of weight due to those medics… *cry*

  2. For me personally, I never had dark circles when I was younger. However, from a few years now, I have noticed I kept having bad dark circles on and off. I tried various undereye creams and aplying sweet almond oil, and I also tried cucumber slices. Nothing made a difference, except… proper sleep.
I know it sounds cliched and like it is just one of those things that people tell you to do over and over again but don’t really make a big difference, but I eventually realized that proper sleep was the ONLY thing that made a difference with my dark circles.
When I continuously get at least 8 hrs of sleep a night for, say, 2 weeks, my dark circles completely disappear. And I do mean completely! When I start sleeping erratically, or I get very few hours of sleep a night for around a week, they come back. *haan ji*
I don’t know if this is your case, but if you don’t sleep for the required number of hours every night, or if you sleep erratically or at different times every night, it might be a cause for your dark circles. So do look into this 🙂
Also check if you are anemic. If you are, consult a doctor. Also, drink at least 10 glasses of fluid (except tea, coffee, soft drinks) a day. This also largely helps, believe me!
So my advice, in a nutshell: Sleep well, and drink water, and also use a good eye cream regularly.
Currently, I am using the Nivea Soft Cream under my eyes. It is not an undereye cream per se, but I find it absorbs quick, requires minimal manipulation of skin to apply, and keeps the area well hydrated.

    1. Thanks Samatha….in my case it could not be due to lack of sleep. I am a sleepy head *duh* Also, I never see much difference in the intensity of my dark circles..they kinda remain same….may become a bit lighter some of the days but never fades…….
But I will definitely increase my liquid intake from now…. *thankyou*

  3. Sometimes dark circles are due to genetic or hormonal factors or may be due to some deficiency so consider those factors too…but yes you can give 2-5 minutes of massage to your under eye area with olive oil.It increases blood circulation and olive oil has vit. E so it will certainly help. Good luck… 🙂

  4. please get your heamoglobin checked…and try to get some decent 7-8 hour sleep every day :)Dark circles must be cured for inside out for long term results 🙂

      1. aww *shock*
        koi na u’ll *duel* them!!
get enuf beauty sleep …n get the nature’co eye mask…i’ve heard it works!!

  5. u can try almond oil overnight, before going to bed massage ur eyes slightly with almond oil…….. u will definitely get giud results..

  6. I also had severe dark circles some time but I noticed improvement (in my skin as well ) after I started taking health drink like women horlicks.I think its all about treating skin from outside as well as from inside.

  7. Take the potato and grate it using the grater. Put the grated potato in the muslin cloth and extract the potato juice by squeezing it . Dip the cotton pads in the potato juice so that it soaks all the goodness .Squeeze the excess juice from the cotton pads , place it on your eyes and rest for 15 minutes . Potato juice has bleaching properties which is amazing for under eye circles and it is also really great for soothing your eyes . I suggest leaving the potato in the refrigerator for half an hour before grating it so that the juice is cold . Use this every night before going to bed and you would see the results within a week.

  8. Remedy 2- Dip the crushed mint leaves into the rose water and keep it in the refrigerator overnight so that the rose water is infused with the goodness of mint. The next morning , filter out the rose water and you would see it is slightly yellow in color . Dip the cotton pads in this liquid and squeeze out the excess . Place these moist cotton pads onto your eyes and remove it in 10-15 minutes. Since you kept this mixture in the fridge and it is chilled , it is even more beneficial because dark circles heal a lot faster when you apply something cool on them. Rose water increases the blood circulation around the eye area and the toxins will be removed by the mixture of rose water and mint . You don’t even have to rinse it of as it acts as a protective film around your eyes.

  9. remedy 3- Take a used tea bag (green, black or white) that’s been squeezed out. Next, put the tea bags on a plate and refrigerate them until they have cooled . Place the cold bags over your eyes and leave it for about 10 minutes. Be careful not to get tea in your eyes. With regular usage you’ll see a noticeable improvement in puffiness and under-eye circles. Caffeine in tea helps to diminish water in the tissues around the eyes which helps in reducing the dark circles. In addition, tea contains antioxidants that are beneficial to the skin.

  10. 4- Take cucumber paste in a bowl and mix it with the alovera gel . Add honey to the mixture and mix all the ingredients well. Apply this paste around your eyes and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Rinse it off with cold water.
